I thought memory loss is always temporary except for severe brain damage.
Also why would Ranma not change gender even for the memory loss?  Correct
me if I am wrong here but except for the body temperature nothing can null
the curse of Jusenkyou.  I forgot magic could null it but we are not
dealing with magic here.

memory damage _always_ occurs to some extent with severe (or even not 
so severe!) brain damage

It may also occur for seemingly trivial damage, but in this case it 
is (usually, bot not always) psychosomatic...

There is no such thing as a non-trivial head injury...
