My question is this. If a person were to create a totally new
story and plot with completly new characters and such, would it still be a
fanfic? (Told you this was a stupid question!) And are there any
particular situations where it would be called a fanfic?

no. If you don't have ANY and I mean ANY characters from some series, than
it's an orginal work. For example, Original Flavour by Chris Schumacher is
considered a fanfic even though he basically created his own universe and
characters. But it has a few, a few Sailor Moon characters, so it's a
fanfic. Also, The Crys Saga by Chris Schumacher is also a fanfic because it
takes place in Nerima.

But if you create totally orginal characters, I mean orginal, NOT a child
of Ranma, NOT a second cousin of Tenchi, NOT the roomates's brother's
nephew's friend's doctor's wife's dog's enemy of Yusaku Godai, or anything
like that. AND the scenery is NOT in the same universe as a certain series
that could possibly have them run into those characters in that universe,
then it isn't a fanfic. Other than that, I consider that a fanfic.

That's my thoughts.

I am only asking this because... er... a friend, yeah, _friend_,
not me, was planning on writing a brand new fic not based on anything seen
here, and then he was gonna post it. (I repeat, it wasn't me!) I told
him he was an idiot, but now he has a gun to my head forcing me to right
this. Well, bye...

RAAC does allow orginal posts if they have the anime feel.( I think )
Question is, what the hell is anime feel?

A Real Nervous Stupid Idiot! :)

Comic Book Guy: Question! Is your name Ridley Scott or James Cameron?

Homer: No, it's Homer.

Comic Book Guy: Then I will thank you stop peering at my screen play Homer,
and if I see a movie where computers threaten our personal liberties I will
know you stole my idea.
