A lot of people, myself included, are being bounced off the list every once in a
while. I believe this is due to a bug in the mailing list's software. Because of
some glitch, when a message that cannot be delivered to a subscriber, it
sometimes bounces the SENDER of that message -- when it should be bouncing that
subscriber. I'm sure WW is doing what he can to solve the problem.
What should you do when you get bounced? First of all, look at the bounce
message and make sure it is not in fact a problem with your server. Secondly,
resubscribe.
Then you'll want to get all the posts you may have missed. There's an easy way
to do this, without flooding the list with "please send me all posts..."
messages. Look at the message headers from the last few messages you got before
being bounced. There will be a line like this:
X-Mailing-List: <fanfic@fanfic.com> archive/latest/90210
The number listed (90210 in this example) is the archive number of the post. Do
the same for the first few posts you got after you resubscribed. The numbers in
between the ones from the before-bounce messages and from the after-resubscribe
messages are the missing ones. Make a list of what these are.
Then send an E-mail to fanfic-request@fanfic.com with subject Archive . For each
missing post number, in the body of the message put a
get latest/#####
where ##### is the number. In the example above, I would put
get latest/90211
get latest/90212
and so on, until I reached the numbers of the posts I got after resubscribing.
Mail the message off (turn off your sig, or put a quit on the last line), and
the posts will be mailed to you.
