a couple of hours ago I posted this:
Why does Akane keep saying Ranma no Baka when everybody (including
Akane) can see that Ranma is not a cow, although he is rather strange for a
human?
Okay. It seems I have some explaining to do. I originally posted this
as a sort of challenge. Baka in Pilipino means cow. When I originally heard
the phrase "Ranma no baka" in fanfics I was amused by the double meaning.
I wouldn't have posted this if not for the fact that Switch, my Zukeeper, told
me that RPM was Pilipino. I was therefore curious if anyone could get the
double meaning in such a stupid question as the one I posted. I actually would
have posted this later to get more responses but after reading some of the mail
I decided not to so that I wouldn't have to be chased out of the FFML due to
terminal stupidity.
I would like to congratulate Ryan Reynolds for being the first one to
get the reference. I would also like to thank Dave Muniak, C-Chan, and Jorge
Pratt for pointing out the spanish word "vaca". Since the Philippines was a
colony of Spain for a couple of hundred years. It's probably reasonable to
assume that "vaca" was the original root word for the eventual Pilipino word
"baka". You learn something new everyday.
My apologies for the unnecessary spam.
