Q1. Why all/most the fanfiction we see is of western origin
and written in english?
Why no Japanese authors?
There are Japanese authors, but most of them do dojinshi, which is
fanfiction in manga format. I'm getting my first Sailor Moon dojinshi this
month (unfortunatly, not Lunatic Party, but Moon Fight), and if anyone knows
where I can find a Ranma dojinshi, let me know.
Q2. Are the Japanese anime fans aware of western fanfiction?
I have heard rumors that 'Sailor Ranma' was made into an actual dojinshi and
sold in Japan, but I'm not too sure. If anyone would like to verify...
Q3. Are the Japanese anime/manga creators aware of the fanfiction
based on their works?
Yes they are aware of dojinshi, and most of them are probably aware of what
we(the Gaijin) do.
Were any comments made by them concerning western fanfiction?
Yes. We should graduate into making our own characters and start selling
them. I'm not kidding. The president of Gainax was quoted as being
dissapointed that there wasn't much creativity with western dojinshi.
As a result of hearing that, I have an idea for a manga, but I need some
help writing it, and I would need someone to do preliminary character
sketches. If enough people are interested, I'll post my idea to the list.
