I remeber watching Jurassic Park for the first time. Half of the people
were thinking "Whoa DUDE!!!" Most of the rest were thinking "The book is
MUCH better!"
But the role players among us (myself include) thought one thing as one
"DRAGONS! Hollywood can FINALLY do DRAGONS!"
Can't have Dragonlance without dragons. The problem is, there's to much written to pack into one movie, and you'd have to make a trilogy. And that's just Chronicles. Legends would have the biggest special effects budget since Waterworld. But three things would make it worth it: the coolness that the movies would almost certainly bring, James Earl Jones as the voice of Lord Soth, and Sean Connery as Fizban the Fabulous.
Or, if you
could get a good goth shojo studio like CLAMP to do the manga, then I would
love to see that. To me, Chronicles and Legends are to fantasy what Star
Wars is to Science Fiction. Yes, 'The Hobbit' was good, and I enjoy reading
Forgotten Realms, but nothing has captured my imagination like the two main
trilogies in DragonLance.
David Eddings is good too. Plus see below for what is INO the greatest fantasy ever
Have you read "The Wheel of Time"? That's my personal pick for most
intriguing fantasy of all time. Now THAT would be one hell of an Anime
:)
As well as the coolest. Now that would be a good set of live actions, although they couldn't even begin to compare to the books. Still, some of the Forsaken battles, especially when he unloads that huge bailfire into Mashadar and Sammael, and the one where the Asha'man butcher the Aiel would be very, very impressive. For some reason, I see James Earl Jones as someone's voice. Ishamael? It would make a good anime too.
