What cures are you thinking of?  Admittedly I've only read through Volume
8 of the manga, but I don't remember Ranma _ever_ being close to a cure
except in the last manga with the barrel of Nannichuan water, but he lost
it because Happosai thought that it was beer.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well there was the spring in "Nihao, My concubine" that Ranma had to
destroy but you're right. I cant remember too many cures that Ranma was
offered. But still he could always go back to China to find the spring
of the drowned boy if he really wanted to be cured.
