This is probably a truly stupid thing to do considering how long this
thing has been running but why is all the attention on what girl
deserves Ranma.

how about looking at it the other way around

because if we looked at it that way Ranma would end up old and alone.

after stories like the super soba I'm not so sure that's not what he deserves.

Besides most of the conversation isn't about who _deserves_ Ranma, but who
should get him (it's a subtle distinction I know, but an important one.
Who deserves Ranma is the one who has suffered the most to get him--there
are several schools of thought on this one too. Who should get Ranma is
the one who would produce the greatest amount of mutual happiness between
the both of them--there are more than several schools of thought on this
one.)

One of the problems facing the girls is that none of them currently fit
Ranma's
image of what a girl should be and therefore what his wife should be.

Ranma's view as to what a girl should be can be deduced from the story
where he hits
his head and thinks he's a girl.

He would go crazy within months of marring a girl like that and would more
than likely head off on a ten year training trip of his own. But for now
due to his upbringing
that is what he visualizes as a true girl. A Kasumi clone.
A girl just like the girl that married dear old dad.
