A now soaking wet and utterly female Ranma felt for the bump on
his head and winced. "Uncute, violent tomboy," he cursed under his
breath. Hitting him was one thing, but she didn't have to shove him
into the canal. Not only that, but she had gone on ahead and left him
there. Now he was gonna be *really* late.

"Is someone down there?" called an unfamiliar voice.

Ranma looked up. There was a girl leaning on the fence, looking
down at him with a mixture of sympathy and amusement. "That looks like
it hurts," she said. "Here, let me help you out there."

She stretched out a hand and helped Ranma haul himself out.
"Uh, thanks," he said sullenly.

The girl was about his age, attractive (if pressed, he might
have even admitted 'cute'), with a pale complexion, black clothes, and a
shock of black hair that hung down around her shoulders. Around her
neck hung a silver ankh pendant.

She smiled warmly at him. "Hi. My name's Didi."
