I for one stand besides both Hitomi and Gary Kleppe in saying that any
censorship is wrong. Each person has their own right to write as they see
fit. Is it for us to judge a man's writings purely based on our own
opinions then damn him based on them? How can we stand here, telling each
other to censor a work of writing when we are writers ourselves. If our
brand of writing was considered wrong (and it may well be) would you be
willing to stop?
I know that I for one will not stand for an even simple beggining to
censorship. It is warned by the geratest writers around the world that if
you control what people read, you control how they think. Writing/reading
is one of the greatest and most powerful tools against oppression, and were
it to be oppressed ... may the lord have mercy upon our souls.
It starts with a thought, then a step, and ends in a full blown war. What
seems simple enough cannot be farther from it. I ask all those in the FFML,
to wisely consider this next time before saying something of the like again.
I value opinions, even of censorship, because that is what keeps us free.
There is a simple book written called "Fahrenheit 451" which deals with the
same subject, and it is currently in the process of being censored by
several states. An educated man is dangereous to tyranny because he knows
how to choose. I fyou take away those choices, then what is left to stop
tyranny?
