Overall, this seems pretty cool. I do hope, though, that this is going
to be the actual Ranma characters set in this time period, and not just
the real people with only their names changed. The Akane you have here
so far does not seem like the Akane that we know. The characters can be
put in the roles of real historical people, but they should still be
recognizable as themselves and not just be the real people with
different names. It's still too early to tell how this is going to go,
so I'll just wait for the next part.

Indeed. The writing was well done, and the plot was of a type that I
haven't seen before...but fusion-style fics always walk a very fine line.
Are the characters recognizable as themselves? Do they think the way the
normal characters do, barring changes in placement and upbringing?

Some of the older residents of the list may remember a story posted by
Joyce Meadows almost a year back. As a story, it was very, very good. But
it seemed as if the author had just written a non-fanfic piece, and then
pasted the names of anime characters into the appropriate slots.

On the other hand, well-done, nicely blened fusions can be wonderful. I
refer you to RpM's abortive Indy Jones/Ranma fusion and Benares Star
Trek/Ranma fusion (not to be confused with the other, less successful Star
Trek fic with the double Ryogas). Both of them are comedies... it takes
hard work to do a serious fusion right.

So far, I've liked the writing... but been less than impressed by the
blending. Like Mr. Kleppe says, this doesn't seem like the Akane we know.
I'll be interested to see how it works in future episodes.
