There is one way that works, but it's an abomination against nature.
Run the file through TeX or Latex normally, and then look for a program
called dvi2tty or dvitty That will give you what the program thinks is the
best ASCII representation of the complex typesetting output provided.
There is a nother way, but no sane person would do it, unless they had a
massive amount of these files to process. Rewrite the base macros in TeX to
dump the text without formatting. Anyone with the skill to do this, can
sightread TeX anyway.
