I have just read two stories that came dangerously close to changing 
my opinion of Shampoo.

Now, I've always looked upon Shampoo in much the same way I look upon 
the yearly intrusion of fire ants into my home. But, after two 
stories I read tonight, I'm developing a slightly different 
perception of the Chinese terror.

GREAT!!!! 

Purple Haired Destiny:
Amazing, to see how Shampoo changes so much in this one. I can see 
this happening--if Shampoo came out from under Cologne's thumb (or 
staff), she might develop into something rather respectable, if not 
likeable. I can't wait to read sequels to this story. I wouldn't 
really even be upset if Ranma and Shampoo actually do end up together.

wow, I think that's the best compliment I've ever gotten! thanks! don't
worry, I'm going to start working on the next part ASAP...

The other one: I guess it was titled "Who's Child Is This?" :
Shampoo becoming a mother? Eesh. Scary. But...could, as proven in 
this story, change her for the better. 


Mind you, I don't see Cologne as evil. After all, she's just doing 
what she's done since the days of Tyrannosaurus Rex: looking out for 
the welfare of her people. This is commendable, even if it makes her 
seem rather evil at times. I can see where she's coming from. I also 
believe she really, deep down, DOES care about her granddaughter. She 
just can't show it too well because it's not the Amazon way.

You know, one of the main reasons I wrote Purple Haired Destiny was
because I didn't think Shampoo was being portrayed very well... I *very*
glad to hear that I might actually be having some effect on changing
poeples oppions of her! she's not just a bimbo! 

Shampoo became my favorite character when she first appeared in the first
season.. more than any of the other charcters at that point, she seemed to
really be a creature of emotion... and I felt for her plight almost
immediately. Likewise when she was re-introduced as a cat later in the
second season... some of those scenes where she watches Ranma from afar,
or where she seems so hurt by his reaction to her cat form just got to me
in a big way... I was so disappointed in how she was portrayed later in
the series, how she slowly degraded from that beautiful feeling person
into some mindless ... argh... (and I could have *KILLED* ranma after the
"instant nannichuan" episode and the reversal jewel episodes...)

Then when I found fanfiction, I was sure I would find lots of fics showing
the better half of Shampoo, but alas, most of the ones that showed her in
any sort of faltering light had her pairing with that bastard Mousse...
<sigh> So I took it upon myself to finnally write a fic where Shampoo gets
a fair shake!
