I've noticed that few fanfics ever depict Ranma choosing Shampoo just
because he prefers her over his other fiancees. Why is Shampoo considered
such an unlikely choice? Certainly, she has a few odd ideas and Cologne is
the mother-in-law from Hell. Nonetheless, Shampoo is attractive, dynamic,
brave, persistent (aren't they all), and an excellent cook. Although she
initially regards Ranma as a trophy husband, she does seem to develop a
genuine fondness for him as the series progresses (I'm thinking of
"Desperately Seeking Shampoo"). I'm not saying that Shampoo is the best
fiancee for Ranma, just that I think she shouldn't always be considered the
least likely of the three women to end up with Ranma.

Consider that out of Ukyou, Akane, and Shampoo, Shampoo is the -dumbest,-
the -least- considerate, the most violent, and the most annoying to Ranma of
the whole lot.

Furthermore, she spends half her time as a cat.

Furthermore, if Ranma did marry Shampoo, he would have to go back to China
and become a househusband while Shampoo led the Amazons on to glory. Not the
preferred career plan for a martial artist.

Furthermore, Ranma's feelings towards Shampoo, as portrayed in the manga at
least, are split between knee-jerk possessiveness (as portrayed in the
Contrary Jewel incident), mild friendship and blatant fear.

Furthermore, Ranma has made it blatantly clear he doesn't want to marry
ANYBODY yet- something which Shampoo ignores completely.

Doesn't look too good for the brainless one, does it?

I agree with you except for the stupid part. Shampoo isn't stupid. She
just misguided. Look, as a "traditional" Chinese, Shampoo has it ingraned
in her to do whatever her elders say, without question, and by whatever
means neccessary. _I_ have yet to see any instance of Shampoo being
stupid. The only thing that I can think ofthat could lead you to that
colcusion would be Shampoo's broken Japanese. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanx for litening to me rant and rave
