  BinHex is a Macintosh encoding format.  It uses the extension ".hqx," 
and is basically a text encoding of a Macintosh binary.  Mac binaries are
coded this way because the peculiar Mac filesystem breaks down on a normal
PC.  You tend to see stuff with ".sit.hqx," which is compressed and then
text encoded.  I don't understand why they were not saved in ASCII format,
but the person may not know enough about the internet to understand the
errors of posting stuff this way.  Let me know the ftp site, and I can
download them and convert them to ASCII if you really want to read them.
