Which would be a little goof. Chinese doesn't have long vowels, but vowel
tone. It's the way the vowel is intoned that makes the difference.

You should know better than to take the way a borrowed word is
written/pronouced in the borrowing language (Japanese) to be an accurate
reflection of how it's pronounced in the lending language (Chinese).
Chinese and Japanese have different phonetic systems; you shouldn't take
how it's written in Japanese as the horse's mouth. Go straight to the
source.

I just don't bother; it's not worth the aggravation and it doesn't add
anything to the story. But that's just one fellow's opinion.
