Alright...first, I will open this by saying...WHY? What is the point
in persisting with this lambasting of me? I have already admitted,
publically, to the entire FFML that I was in error when I wrote what
I wrote about using the dub names. This is a closed issue. Let it GO
already.

But, no, you have to drag out something I posted to rec.arts.anime.
fandom. Alright, then, we'll go another round with this.

Now, if you had read my post to r.a.a.f. carefully--my basis for
flaming that particular author and fanfic was NOT his choice of using
Spanish dub names. My reason for flaming that author was because of
the reason he used the names and the attitude with which he presented
his story.

In his introduction, this author basically claimed himself to be a
god of writing. Now, whether or not such comments are made in jest,
and I do not believe this to be so in this case, matters not--the
fact that this author would say anything so obtuse within the body of
a fanfic offends me. The best fanfic writers are the ones that do not
develop a swelled ego--without reason, at any rate. As for this
person's writing talents--I've read some of his works before. He is
hardly at a level where he can claim godhood as a fanfic writer.

To continue, he proclaims that since he is such a reknowned genius
fanfic writer (he's written *one* story that I can even remember
anything about, and it was a terrible self-insertion fic), he would
proceed to use the Spanish dub names. Why? Because he deals with them
more easily? No.

Because he doesn't know the original or English dub names? No.

He did it for one reason: to be obtuse. As much is clearly stated in
his introduction. He did it more for the sake of being obtuse than
for any concept of familiarity.

I can understand and tolerate the use of the English dub names in
fanfics because I know that many people are more comfortable with
them.

I can deal with the use of Spanish dub names if they're all the
author knows. I am not, as I've been accused of being, a closed-
minded, arrogant bastard. I am neither closed-minded nor arrogant. If
an author can't use any other means to tell his story, fine. I can
live with that.

But using the Spanish names just for the sake of annoying people?
THAT, I can't abide.

And that is why I flamed that particular author.

Not for his choice of names.

For his attitude.
