Actually, Viz has just begun putting out Inuyasha, so "forever" is a
remarkably brief interval in this instance.  

You are right that inu means dog.  Yasha means female demon (which is
why the confusion, I guess).  Inuyasha, however, is one of the main
characters of the story, and he is not female (contrary to the post I was
originally responding to which called him a "babe").
