I just read the first part of Takahashi-sama's new epos, Inu-Yasha.
What I wonder is, have any of you read it and if so, what do you think?
I thought it pretty cool but...
Let's see. A demon terrorizes a village. Someone saves the village
by impaling the demon. Later more demons terrorize the same village,
so a descendant of the impaler pulls out the impaling device, so that
the demon can defeat the other demons.
Folks, this has been done before. It's called USHIO & TORA.
Now, I know the differences between INU-YASHA and USHIO & TORA are
far too numerous to even attempt to list, but that central core is
surprisingly the same. (Unless the "impaled demon" is an element of
traditional Japanese folklore?)
