Actually yes. Sha n pu is the Japanese pronuciation of the Chinese
pronunciation. Which in turn Shampoo is an English approximation of
Shanpu.

x is very appropriate. Usuallly x is used or hs.

My friend's name is Hsiao Fen. But her ID says Xiao. A very soft sh in
either case.

There are two different sounds in Chinese that sound sort of like the
English sh sound. One is romanized "x" (or "hs" in the old system), as
in xiao (small) or xue (learn). The other is romanized "sh" as in shei
(who) or shu (book). If Shampoo's name in Chinese means Coral + Jade, as
certain web pages indicate, then shanpu is correct rather than xianpu.
