Introduction.
As you may know, Dream Pod 9 ((514) 523-1350) has stopped publishing the
Project A-ko Role Playing Game, which is a real pity, because it's full
of ideas for fanfic writers.
I have purchased a brand new copy of this game, which I shall give away
to the most deserving Project A-ko fanfic writer, who doesn't already
have a copy.
Terms of the contest.
Each writer will send to me by May 31st a Project A-ko fanfic, which
I'll send to my panel of judges for them to consider and then I'll
announce the winner on June 14th, who I'll send the copy of the game to.
Entries.
Each contestant will submit one story, in ASCII text, by e-mail, of no
more than 32 kilobytes in size.
The stories will be Project A-ko fan fiction of the contestant's own
creation.
They will not be crossovers. As Project A-ko is a spoof of all things
Anime, just about anybody can walk on, but they'd best walk off
immediately thereafter. (Hint: If you have to name the cameoing extra,
you're probably out of spec.) The focus of the contest is to
demonstrate skill in the A-koverse and not just tack the girls onto K1's
harem.
Judging.
Each entry will be measured in the following four areas. Each judge
will give an integer ranking of 0 to 10 in each of the following areas
and provide a few paragraphs explaining the score in that area.
Each story will get an overall score that is the average of its score in
each area. The story with the highest overall average is the winner.
Areas of judgement.
Style: How well written is the story? Are there grammatical or
spelling errors? Does the story flow smoothly? Is tense consistent?
Does thought get quoted (or not) in a consistent way?
Originality: How good is the story at breathing new life into the
series? This is a measure of the newness and freshness of the concepts.
Characterization: How closely do the characters match to the
Project A-ko originals. (Does it really feel like B-ko?)
Fun: How fun is the story? Does it really rock?
Results.
Each contestant will be notified by mail of the results with the
(anonymous) comments of the judges on their fanfic.
The winner and all honorable mentions will be posted up at my web page.
Also the results will be announced on the Project A-ko Mailing List. (Ask
me to join).
