I am well aware that this info may well be wrong, people feel free to

On oriental vampires...try to find a copy of the hong kong movie 'Mr 
Vampire' it has heaps of charms, spells and techniques.
Plus (come to think of it) an oriental ghost. It helps that its 
really silly as well :)
 A quick run down....Oriental ghosts have a long tradition of being 
beautiful, able to fly and a tendency to falling tragically in love 
with mortals (no good ever comes of it). They also use spells and 
charms a fair bit and can pass through unwarded walls.

Vampires hop because traditionally 'I believe' a spike was pushed 
through both ankles upon death(if there was risk of becoming a 
vampire). to root their restless bodies in the ground. Anyone killed 
by a vampire (or injured) would become a vampire though walking on 
sticky rice would remove the contamination. They are blind but find 
you by hearing your breathing and they are supernaturally strong. 
Rice paper charms with kanji written on them can stop them if stuck 
to the forehead with blood. As can numerous other strange and weird 
rituals. Also (usually) they are depicted as almost totally mindless 
with pale skin and long fingernails that they use as weapons.
