Y'know, seeing all this response to my responses to 'Bitter End'...

... I'm surprised at how much I'm seeing the attitude, 'Akane? A homicidal
abusive shrew who eats small children for breakfast before making Ranma the
scapegoat for her smallest annoyance? I can believe it!'

If I knew way back then what I know now, I would have joined that certain
interminable and confusing thread which -started- as 'Who's Ranma's best
babe?' and come in on the side of the Akane forces. The poor girl is in dire
need of advocates. }:-{D

Don't worry I know of plent of my fellow Akane-lovers.  Sadly, though,
few (none?) of them are on the FFML.

Heh! my turn to put in my two yen worth.
  For a start let me say I really love Akane in the Ranma series (OK 
so she isn't as cool as Nabiki, but then...who is?). This however is 
beside the point, Zen wrote a 'realistic-fic' this means he took the 
actions of the Nerima cast and put them into a semi realistic 
setting.
  Now, let me ask you what you would think of someone (in real life) 
who beat up the boyfriend who would 'never' touch them on a regular 
basis? Now it's a fact that Akane regularly hits Ranma in the anime 
and manga, so draw your own conclusions....
  The thing is that in the Takahashi stuff, EVERYTHING is over the 
top, silly and blown out of all proportion, this makes it 
funny...but! look through slightly darker glasses and you suddenly 
have a violent and abusive cycle.

Zens viewpoint is legitimate...Takahashi would never (and rightly so) 
go with it, but then she didn't write it :) We are the writers 
people, this is our take on the characters of other people and we can 
muck around with the source material however we want. Zen IMHO was 
truer than many (eg lemon punch) He just put a nastier twist on what 
was already in the source material.
