Be that as it may, the universe depicted in the manga _is_ different from
the universe of Zen's 'Bitter End'. Cartoon damage is replaced by real
damage in this, which is the most significant change. Ranma would already
_be_ dead if Akane gave him half the abuse that he got in the series if
that damage had been real. If 'Bitter End' were set in the Takahashiverse,
there would be no permanent damage, and it would be a much different fic.
However, in Zen's universe, the harm is not NPD; this abuse can cause
serious long-term health problems or even death.

It's the same situation with a darker cast. Akane has problems controling
her temper and beats on Ranma in each universe. In the Takahashiverse, this
is funny, because there is NPD. In Zen's universe, this same behavior is
abusive, dangerous and potentially lethal.

It's also double standard. Switch the positions of Ranma and Akane, giving
Ranma the violent temper and tendancy to smash and Akane the damage sponge.
Even in the Takahashiverse, I would find this offensive, angering and
wrong. But when the woman is doing the beating? Provided that there's NPD,
I find it funny and he gets what he deserves. And yes, we're all guilty of
that double standard.

In the Takahashiverse, Ranma would never break down under that kind of
abuse. But this is no longer the Takahashiverse; in a realistic world NO
ONE is _that_ strong. Even Ranma can't stand that kind of abuse forever;
pain caused by a loved one is worlds worse and much more debilitating than
pain caused by an enemy. He's eventually going to break.

The rules are different. And when the rules are different, the question of
IC/OOC goes out the window.

you should be made Kodachi's slave for the rest of your days, but
since that fic was as good as it was, I think I'll just wait for
the next revengefics. She won't be happy, you know. I think
She'll be really, really, really angry, but that's not my problem.
I know that anger was build up gradually, but I still think it was
out of porportion. (I know, I'm in many ways like Ryouga was in this fic.
I've went through hell and came back stronger.)

Jussi, whether or not Zen gets written into a revengefic about this is up
to Zen and Zen alone. Writing a revengefic about another person without
his/her permission is frowned upon.

I thought the story was excellent. It was realistic, engaging, and
chilling. I wasn't happy at the end, but it wasn't a comedy. If I was
laughing, I'd be a sadistic MF. The fact that you're ranting and raising
four kinds of hell means that the Zenmeister has done his job as a writer.
