Sorry. :) Just wanted to say that this isn't a *great* fanfic, like
your guys' are.

Jadeite was dead.

He found it terribly inconvenient.

Oy. Richard, you've stumbled onto THE cliche of Sailor Moon
fanfiction.

I know. <grin> This is one of the reasons why I classified this as a
Saturday morning cartoon kind of fic, because of all the cliches.

 Okay.

<Summary of dub snipped>

Thanks, Chris. I don't have the dub (I borrowed John's copies once, but
he insisted that I return them) and I couldn't find any synopses for the
dub on the web anywhere. I tried to post a message on the SM ML asking
where I could find synopses of the dub, but the moderator didn't post
it. (And yes, I did check the FAQ). Finally, out of desperation, I
decided to go with my imperfect memory and post to the FFML, hoping
someone would set me straight. Thanks. ^_^

She never had enjoyed a single minute of being Sailor Moon.
She spent a lot of that time scared out of her mind.

Not true. There have been plenty of moments that she has enjoyed
being Sailor Moon, and she is more or less cured of her "I just
wanna be a normal teenager" syndrome mid-way through the first
half of R.

Actually, I knew better than this. Don't know where my head was.

"But earthlier happy is the rose distill'd,
Than that which withering on the virgin thorn
Grows, lives and dies in single blessedness."

<Rolls eyes> Quick poll -- who saw THIS coming? (If he calls her
"Odango no onna", I'm leaving.)

<laughs> Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

Okay, this I *didn't* see coming ...

Good. I was hoping to fool a few people.

I hate dimensional travel crossovers. They always feel
like ... cheating.

Actually, I totally agree. I've often sat and thought, "If there are an
infinite number of universes, and travel between them is possible, then
there are an infinite number of universe travellers trying to get into
my bathroom. But then, there are an infinite number of people who try
to prevent travel between universes, so they're blocking those people.
But then again, there are an infinite number of people trying to get
around those blocks. And then yet again...."

At this point my brain melts.

Again, this was me using a cliche - universe travelling - to get Ranma
and Serena together, just for fun. :)

Ranma guessed that 'youma' meant those demons he'd seen earlier.

Given that Youma is a Japanese word meaning demon, that would be
a very good guess on Ranma's part.

Oh. Didn't know this.

Her eyes met his. "Are you all right?" Her voice was
different. She spoke with a deliberate cadence, carefully
enunciating each word. It sounded almost... regal.

Again, good characterization, very true to the way Ms. Moore
(I think) portrays Serena in her princess state.

Yeah. Purists may flame me, but I think the voice actor(s) for Serena
are superior to their Japanese counterpart. I got a big kick out of the
way she(they) put a lot of humor into the characterization for Sailor
Moon. My favorite moment is the one where Sailor Moon makes her
appearance after the fake Sailor Moon has been sighted. She goes on to
say, "I am Sailor Moon! (the orginal) Champion of Truth and Justice!"
What's great is that you can *hear* the parentheses in the dialogue.

Truly, the American voice acting talent was enough to keep me interested
enough to watch all of John's tapes. If it had been as insipid as it is
in most dubs, I would likely have given up.

The red-shirted man fell to one knee, still keeping his
arms upraised and absorbing the blow of the beam. Serena
was smiling almost savagely.

Bad characterization. She NEVER does that.

<sigh> I knew better than this, too. I was thinking of her expression
when she fights Beryl. But she wasn't smiling then, was she? Will
change this.

He reminded himself to thank Serena, whoever she was, the
next time he saw her.

And I REALLLLY hate stories that end with the protagonists
forgetting that anything happened. If nothing happened,
what was the POINT?

Well, I didn't want to upset the status quo. Another reason to call it
a Saturday morning cartoon. And they (Serena and Ranma) do have
vestigial memories, should the need for them remember each other come up
(and no, I am *not* planning a sequel).

Okay. It was a fairly good story, even though you

a) used THE CLICHE.
b) used dimensional travel (and that may getcha another "Gee,
this is strangely similar to --" ticket, this time for
   similarity to LaShawn's Ranma/SM crossover ...)

You forgot another cliche I used: The heroes for goodness will have a
battle because of a misunderstanding. Then they will reconcile and team
up to defeat the bad guy. :)

On the whole, this story merits a B+.

Wow. Honestly, I'm flattered. I didn't think it would rate that high.
Thanks. ^_^

And thanks for the *excellent* C&C. This was *exactly* the kind of
feedback I was hoping for when I posted it to the FFML, especially the
part about the dub continuity.
