The Akane in this story is a lot more extreme and irrational than I
personally could ever see her becoming. True, she is often bashing Ranma
in the original series, and frequently for no good reason, but the kind
of violence that has no effect other than lumps on Ranma's head for the
following couple of panels. It's cartoon slapstick violence. Moreover,
she generally needs *something* to set her off, even if it is an utter
misunderstanding of the kind that she should have been able to see
through.

Let's not forget either that Ukyo has a bad temper, arguably rivalling
Akane's. She's bashed her spatula over Ran-chan's head a number of
times.

Oh well. This was still a masterfully constructed story, and a great
pleasure to read. The battered women's group added a great touch of
realism. An excellent story overall; I'll just think of it as a
"what-if".
