			OTAKUFIC'S END
			by Scott K. Jamison
			(Takahashi disclaimer)

	Scott led his fiancee to their seats on the bus, silently cursing
the cramped conditions due to this being the only run that went to their
destination. She didn't seem to notice, being too absorbed in trying to
stay attached to his arm.
	Scott let her have the window seat, and she smiled gratefully at
him. "I'm so excited, Scott-chan! I'm really looking forward to meeting
your parents!"
	He looked at his red-headed companion. She was in a simple white
sundress, though she'd unbuttoned it enough that he could see some of her
cleavage, and just a corner of her amazingly realistic "tattoo". He
winced as his mind returned to how it had gotten there. Scott had just
managed to find a way to travel to the Ranmaverse...
		*			*			*
	"Hi, Ryouga!"
	"Hi, uh, who the heck are you?"
	"I'm Scott, and--hey, watch it with that fishing rod! You might
get somebody hurt swinging that thing around! Here, give it to me before
there's an--"
	*WHIZZ*
	"--accident.  Oops."
		*			*			*
	In the melee which followed his little error, the koi rod had
gotten utterly smashed, so even if there was some way of using it to
reverse the effects, it was too late. Not that Ryouga was going to own
up to the effects, of course. Apparently, Scott had landed in one of the
manga volumes he hadn't gotten around to reading yet.
	At first, Scott thought it was just the sort of instant
friendship he'd hoped to make in Nerima, a male bonding thing. But it
soon became apparent the other boy wanted to be more than friends.
		*			*			*
	"Scott, we belong together! I can feel it in my heart!"
	"Um, I'm sorry, but I just can't love another guy...that way.
You understand, don't you?"
	"But--I have another form, you know!"
	"You're still a man most of the time. It just won't work."
	"I'll find a way, Scott!  You'll see!"
		*			*			*
	And so he had.
		*			*			*
	"Uh, long time no see. What have you *done*!?"
	"I went back to China and found what I needed. I'm a girl, full
time.  You like girls, right?"
		*			*			*
	Scott tried to fend her off with allusions that he preferred more
"feminine" girls. She adopted female dress and mannerisms with a speed
Scott found frightening. Still, in unguarded moments, he saw the pain in
her eyes.
	The koi rod hadn't changed her personality, just her priorities.
Prior entanglements, honor, sexual preference, all were now secondary at
best to the koi on her breast.
	Nabiki, for a fee, had explained the pun. "Koi" for carp, "koi"
for love.
	So the one beside him was really a man in a woman's body, living
a lie to please Scott.
	Eventually, Scott had weakened in his resolve. He'd never been
treated affectionately by a woman before, and her devotion to him was
rather touching. Plus he felt incredibly guilty for subjecting her to
this torment. And the fact that she could toss him around like a sack of
potatos made her physical advances hard to resist.
	Not everyone was so pleased with what had happened. Ranma and
Ryouga had had a big fight over the situation, with major property
damage. And Akane had been less than thrilled with a certain
revelation...
		*			*			*
	"Yes, Akane, I did love you. A lot. But now I belong to
Scott-chan, and I hope you can be happy for us. I'm sorry it didn't work
out, but I never really knew where I stood with you."
		*			*			*
	Finally it came to a head. She'd threatened to harm Kasumi, the
one Scott had originally meant to woo, making them no longer welcome at
the Tendou dojo at all. But he couldn't leave her to pine away, so he'd
proposed. Now he and his fiancee were in the world Scott called real,
and he'd have to make good on his promise. It was the only decent thing
to do.
	Scott just hoped his parents could adjust to his fiancee's
personality quirks. For all that the koi had made her do, there was
still much of the original boy inside her.
	"Scott-chan, are we there yet?"
	"Not for another hour or so, dear."
	"Then let's snuggle!" she said, flashing her distinctive smile.
She drew him into a tight embrace.
	"Whatever you say," said Scott, letting his guilt go for a
moment. "Whatever you say, Ryouga-chan."

			THE EVER-LOVING END!
