I've seen a few trends in fanfics lately that I really dislike

1) Nabiki as the ultrapowerful businesswoman.  I constantly see her
blackmailing people/heading the stock exchange/controlling the world
economy/planning the big strategies and using the other characters as
pawns.  Now..she's businessminded.  That I'll admit.  She runs a gambling
ring and sells naughty pictures to Kunou...that's all I really see.

2) Genma as the rat bastard.  I know that he's not a very nice guy.  I
know about all the bad things he did.  But I think that he's got to have
*some* justification for *some* of what he did.  (n.b. I've been meaning
to write a fic which shows Genma's take on everything that's happened, but
I'll probably never get around to it.  Too many other things to write)

3) Too many fics build around the idea that Ranma and Akane *have* to love
each other and have a happy marriage.  Or else they've married other
people, and have a very bad marriage.  (Yes, I know what Rumico Takahashi
said about Ranma and Akane.  Fanfiction is about building your own roads,
not using someone else's rut)  I would imagine that if the show were
centered around Ranma and Kodachi or Shampoo and Ryouga, (for instance),
you could find all the same evidence that they really do have feelings for
each other, therefore they have to get married and live happily ever
after.
