(n.b. Captain Marvel=Shazam (afaik)  I just refuse to let comic-book
companied rename their characters.  As far as I'm concerned, that Valor
guy is *still* Mon-el)

Captain Marvel still *is* Captain Marvel.  It's just that when DC bought
the Fawcett characters, back in the middle 70's, they couldn't call a book
"Captain Marvel" because Marvel had the trademark on that due to
Mar-Vell's title.  So they named it after the old Wizard, and apparently,
in all that time, Marvel's maintained the trademark, so DC *still* can't
name the book after the hero.
