A bit of commentary from FFML's resident Figure Four wannabe...

All I can glean from the discussion is that Ranma is trying to
do a front footsweep on Akane, and in the process person Ranma is breaking
his(her) own foot/leg.  Am I right?  If you are saying this is
unrealistic, I would disagree, for there is a structural weak point
of sorts right where the foot and lower leg attach.  And given a
relatively weak person attacking a person in a strong stance with a bit
too much force and not enough control, one could conceivably break the leg
at this point.  And given a general lack of understanding of his secondary
form, a lack of control or being a bit off in aim (thus attacking with
this weak point) is also conceivable for Ranma in female form.

Anyway, if you've ever been elbow blocked (thai kickbox style for
example) right above the foot, you know what I'm talking about... it hurts
like hell.  I'm also not sure about the stance in the fanfic, but if the
defending martial artist were good enough, they could not only lower the
stance to strengthen it, but also reposition their leg such that the
sweepers's extended limb struck at a weak point(of the attacker).  In
short... given factors such as Ranma's youth and lack of understanding of
his female form, and even a little bad luck thrown in for poetic license,
this is by no means unrealistic.
