These are the current ideas I'm favoring right >now... which do
you think would be worth following up:
1- Set a bit in the future, once the regular cast >has aged a
bit. Things never worked out between Ranma and Akane; >nothing drastic,
Sorry, to break Ranma and Akane up it's GOTTA be drastic.
they just... didn't get married, and havn't seen each >other in quite a
while. Now he's married to Ukyou. Life is good: the >restaurant's
popular, he teaches a bit, they've got a young son.
And then he bumps into Akane. Old feeling long >thought submerged
or dead resurface, and he starts to wonder if he really >_is_ happy. Will
he risk everything he's currently got for Akane?
I rather suspect that if Ranma did marry Ukyo it'd be a simple matter of
time before he started going on increasingly long training trips. After all the
relationship has no passion, and their interests are strongly divergant (Ukyo's
martial arts skill is simply an aspect of her cooking skill, and Ranma doesn't
have any interest in cooking beyond his own need to eat.)
One of the reasons Akane is such a good match for Ranma is because she
is about the only girl who will prevent him from turning into his father. In
the Manga Ranma's personality is basically the best of Genma's with a strong
sense of honor and integrety added. Thing is unless someone keeps his ego in
cheak he'll probably start becoming more and more like his father. And Akane's
the only one who does it.
2- Choices. This one I thought of doing during the >'What if
Ranma got Pregnant?' debate on the FFML a few months back. > Be damn tough
to write, and probably not a happy fic. However, after >'Thy Outward
Part', and 'Serendipity', I'm not entirely sure it's worth >persuing...
Hmm, I don't recall your idea. Of course the real question is weather
or not you'd like to try writing it, and weather or not you can give it
something no one else's given the concept in previous ficts.
3- An epic! One of those whopping huge, >plot-driven, intricate,
action-filled Ranma stories, inspired by fanfics such as >'Hearts of Ice'
and the sequel to 'Ranma Goes to War', who's name I can't >quite remember
at this time... I've got a basic plot outline, and plan >on drawing in
various elements from Nephilim, the Cthulu mythos, >Arthurian romances,
and whatever else seems interesting or surfaces in my >school classes.
If you think you can manage it, go for it.
4- Anybody else got a nifty idea?
Ok, I'll post a couple of concepts, feel free to disregard, use, or be
inspired to some other idea.
1 Have Ryouga wander into a hiden cave and discover a wierd new technique in a
book. When he uses it against Ranma, Ranma colapses, and lapses into a coma.
Needless to say Akane is really distraught and tries everything she can to help
him. Eventually it turns out that Ryouga's technique was actually the
misaplication of a magic spell, and it had displaced Ranma's astral body from
his physical body. The reason Ranma stayed in the coma is because something in
the astral plane took action against him and forced him to flee to the higher
astral planes. Now on the astral planes Ranma's working constantly to find a
way to return to his body. And on earth Akane's working to find a way to save
Ranma. In some ways a reversal of Hearts of Ice.
2 If you want a crossover no one's done, consider Gold Digger. Erwin 'Pee Wee'
Talon would probably be very interested in the Jusenkyo springs, of course
considering how the little jerk acts it probably wouldn't be much of a streach
for China to forbid him entrance. So he'd be interested in the Jusenkyo victoms
outside China. Ryan Tabot is probably REAL interested in learning about Chi,
and guess where there's a phenomonal concentration of Chi experts?
3 Back in January I posted a little piece as the begining of a Ranma 3x3 eyes
fusion. I seriously doubt that I will be doing anything with it for a while, so
if you or anyone wants to work with it you have my permision and my blessing.
E-mail me if you want the small bit I wrote up.
4 How about this? Ranma and Akane are in the mountains, and they meet an old
man who offers to fight with them. They fight the old man untill they colapse
from exhaustion, everyone complements the other's on the good workout, and they
head back only to discover that while they were fighting one hundred years had
passed.
5 Ok, the premise: Ranma turns out to have a dragon inside him. Or rather a
dragon's spirit. As it turns out when Dragons lay eggs, after a time the eggs
spirit will leave and temperarily inhabit the body of a mortal who's spirit is
strongly resonant with it's own. And as events drive the mortal to improve and
grow, this growth makes the dragon's spirit grow as well. Now the spirit is
ready to be reunited with it's body, but it needs to get Ranma to go to where
the egg is hidden.
