I'm considering several things when reading fanfics. Mostly its
just simply the efort someone put into it, you can always tell
when someone decided to just throw together a few ideas without
really thinking about it or putting forth any kind of real effort.

I just ran across one of those, but I'd rather not name names.

Why not?

Forgive me for going off on a rant here, but people post fanfics on this
ML to get *exactly* that kind of feedback. They *want* you to name
names.

If you read something, and it causes you to have that kind of
reaction...

LET THE WRITER KNOW!!!

Of course. I should have rephrased that. I should have said, I'll not
name names publically. I've sent my C&C to the authors in question,
personally. I'd rather not make that C&C public, since I know I'd feel
uncomfortable at seeing public criticism, even constructive criticism,
of a story of mine in particular. In general however, I have no problem
saying something about bad punctuation, bad grammar, bad
characterization, flat dialogue, etc.
