I consider what makes me write fanfic. I've always been a big 'what if?'
person, as I'm sure most of you are too. But what ismpires you to write
fanfics? About any series? Any genre`? For the sole purpose of
entertaining others?
I dunno... at first, it was a way to try and polish up my skills
- try my hand at writing fiction, and actually get it critiqued
(hopefully) by an audience. And it worked, too - my writing _is_ better
than when I first started. But, then, I really started to enjoy myself,
too. Sometimes, when everything's going just right, and the words are
flowing, there's a, well, really neat feeling to writing. It doesn't
happen too often, and sometimes, ending a story can be more of a chore
than a pleasure, but even then, the satisfaction of actually _finishing_
a fanfic is nice.
It's also always fun to start something new - explore avenue and
possibilities that havn't been done before - take the characters places
they havn't been before and have them do things they havn't yet
done;maybe that's why I've started a bunch of things but never got around
to finishing them...
The ego-swelling, confidence-boosting effect of positive feedback
is a nice incentive as well...
(If only I actually had more time to write... sigh.)
