I'm considering several things when reading fanfics. Mostly its just
simply the efort someone put into it, you can always tell when someone
decided to just throw together a few ideas without really thinking about
it or putting forth any kind of real effort.
I consider what makes me write fanfic. I've always been a big 'what if?'
person, as I'm sure most of you are too. But what ismpires you to write
fanfics? About any series? Any genre`? For the sole purpose of
entertaining others?

Writing for me is actually a kind of compulsion. My imagination has
always run at several times the clock speed of the rest of my brain, and
stuff tends to build up. I can't watch/read ANY story that interests me
without doing an immediate "what if" in my head. Left alone, these ideas
mutate, breed and generally start crowding out other stuff, until I have
no choice but to write them down.
Another problem I have is once I start writing a story, I can completely
lose control of it. I will run the story through my mind, and suddenly a
plot twist or event pops up that I never consciously considered or
intended, and once it does I CAN NEVER GET RID OF IT!!
And, of course, there is the massive ego trip I go on whenever someone C
& C's one of my fics ;p
