I don't know if its just an idea that my brain has formed for some reason,
or if its true, but where does it show that, *when it comes down to it*,
Ryouga is stronger than Ranma? i've only read all the viz manga and the
near-end japanese tankoubon, so i may be missing some vital evidence, but
usually i see Ranma neatly emulating Ryouga's feats of strength when he
*has* to. i guess i attribute this to the fact that Ranma has a lot more
ability than Ryouga and needs not rely on brute muscle; it follows that
Ryouga does need to use this factor more, so it is *this* that we see.

Had to bring poor Ryouga into this didn't ya...sigh...now I've GOT to
say something. I was just wondering if you relized that you proved your
own point?
You say that Ranma neatly emulating Ryouga's feats of Strength when he
*has* to, yet what you don't seem to remember is that these feats of
strength Ranma is emulating are done by Ryouga with little or thought on
his part!
#1 The Umbrella: as Ross pointed out, while Ranma is capapable
of lifting and blocking with it, I've never seen him boomerang the
thing. Also, when Ranma WAS using the umbrella, he was in the middle of
a fight, already using his considerable skill, he was also mad at Ryouga
for calling him a girl and scared for Akane. Ryouga leaps and walks for
literaly miles with this Umbrella, along with his backpack and sometimes
even FULL-SIZED stone statues. He does this without any sign of strain
or thought.
#2 The Ice Skating Episode: Ranma, for the first time in his life,
REALLY MAD...smashes his fist into the ice rink and causes a crack, all
the way to Mikado. Ryouga, knowing he could win the fight if only this
ice wasn't here...smashes his fist into the ice rink and the whole thing
splits open, transforming the entire rink into nothing but glaciers (I
know the rink was actually a frozen pool but did you see how THICK it
was?) Ranma, while fighting Ryouga throws a huge ice boulder at him.
Ryouga leaps at Ranma with an even BIGGER Ice boulder in his
hands..."Holy cats, he leaped with that boulder?" Finally, when Ryouga
got really angry, and was really trying...he lifted almost two full
sides of the rink together and smashes it into Mikado, THEN HE THROWS
THE WHOLE THING AT LEAST 50 FEET!!!!
#3 Little Sister...Ranma, diguised as Ryouga's little sister, playfully
asked if he was flirting with Akane..."Don't you tease your big
brother"...Ryouga pokes his sister bashfully and playfully, sending
Ranma across the room and smashing into a heap, nearly going through a
wall. Calling Ryouga a dummy for leaving her, his poor sister, all
alone... Ranma repeatidly smashes his fists into him with tremendous
force..."Feh! He's done for!"...but when Ryouga reacts by hugging her
and apologizing for being so thoughtless, seemingly unfazed by Ranma's
assault..."Geh! He's still moving?"
I dunno if this is a good example. Isn't Ranma weaker as a girl?
#4 Techniques...Ok, this is the easy one for any one who's read the
Breaking Point story. However, think about this, they both had the same
teacher why did she teach each of them a different Techn...Easy, Ryouga
is not fast enough to learn Chestnuts and though Ranma's battle Stamina
is incredible, his normal endurance falls short of that required to
master the Breaking Point. Otherwise, they both would have learned each
other's style by now. Ryouga could hit Ranma much more often if he
could swing hundreds of time a sec and Ranma could withstand even more
of Ryouga's fierce blows if he went through the Breaking Point training.

That's right. Ranma's got faster speed while ryouga's got more strength.
The only attacks that could hurt Ryouga in that fight were those rapid
fire punches (I'm not sure whether or not it was the Tenshin Amagaruiken
or not.) That's why I would never call who is a better fighter because a)
their both so skilled in their respectie styles and b)I'd start up another
flame if I took sides.
Basically, my point is this, Ryouga does incredible feats of strength
always, not just when he's in a fight...How many times have we seen him
shy Poik his fingers through concrete while talking to Akane. Though
Ranma can up himself to Ryouga's basic level in a fighting situation,
some of the more spectacular feats of strength elude him and he simply
stares in awe of his friend.
Plus he can crush a walnut with his hand. That's pretty hard.
Sigh...I feel as though I've done some good now...calmly shoulders his
backpack and bamboo umbrella and walks off, into the wrong direction,
towards the sunset.
