Hear hear, I am pretty sick of seeing this kind of message myself. Let me point
out, however, that there are several *even easier* ways of getting a story you
had missed or deleted.

1) E-mail the Author; if you don't know the author's address, look for another
one of his or her posts; or look in one of the C&C posts to see if any of the
C&Cers listed the address.

2) Check the author's web page, if any.

3) E-mail one of the people who commented on the story.

4) For older stories, check the rec.arts.anime.creative FTP site.

Let me also point out that using the archive remailer is a great alternative to
posting "Please send me all posts since..." messages. Here's what to do if you
are unsubbed and want to get the posts you've missed:

Check the archive number for the last post you received before you were unsubbed
(it will be in the message header);

Check the archive number of the first post you got after you re-subbed;

E-mail fanfic-request@fanfic.com with subject archive. In the body put a line of
the form

get latest/######

for *each* number in between the two archive numbers above.
