Tales of Younger Jupiter
Episode 2
Chapter 1
The streets were full of the supper crowd as Makoto and Sakuya headed
toward the shrine. Makoto was dividing her time between watching Sakuya
and fighting her own internal battle.
On the one side, she wanted Sakuya's story to be true. The other side
was demanding that this was some sort of trick. There was only one
Jupiter as far as Makoto could remember but her memories were not the
clearest.
Sakuya was also lost in thought. However she was fighting nerves more
than fear. <I feel like the first time I was presented before Her
Majesty. I was only thirteen then. What a mess I made of that.> She
flushed at the memory.
<What is she embarrassed about?> Makoto wondered as she caught sight of
Sakuya flushing. <I would like to have her as a friend. The others
have family, I'm kinda glad she came to me first.>
A few minutes later the pair reached the shrine's stairs and ascended
them. Makoto guided Sakuya towards the shrine. As they entered Makoto
noted that Sakuya was the center of much scrutiny. <Probably wondering
why she came with me if I called on the communicators.>
Rei heard a noise and looked up. She stared at the young woman who
entered after Makoto. At first she thought it was a trick of the light
but it slowly dawned on her that this young woman looked like Makoto.
Her hair was reddish rather than straight brown. Her eyes were brown,
<They look like they've seen a hundred years. I wonder who she is?>
Usagi, sitting with her back to the door, turned around to say something
when she had caught sight of the other person. A confused look passed
over her face as she stared. After finding her voice she managed to ask
the question on everyone's mind, "Mako-chan, who is she?"
"I'd like to introduce Rakurai Sakuya." Makoto gestured. "She has some
news. I thought you guys deserved to know right away." Turning to
Sakuya she said, "You might as well go ahead and tell them." With this
Makoto stepped away and leaned against a wall. <I don't feel so good,>
Makoto thought as her stomach churned slightly.
Ami watched with fascination as Sakuya reached behind her and with a
flicking motion produced a familiar looking pen. She heard the others
gasp in recognition. Usagi started to ask something but was cut short
as this stranger lifted the pen into the air and spoke an even more
familiar transformation phrase.
She had seen Jupiter transform before but this person's transformation
was different in subtle ways; more utility rather than flashy. Minako
gazed on as the woman's business suit drifted away to be replaced with a
Senshi uniform.
"How is this possible?" Rei asked, she couldn't believe what she had
just witnessed.
"I am also Sailor Jupiter," Sakuya said before shifting back to regular
form. "I have the similar transformation pen."
Luna, who had remained silent until this point, protested, "But I never
gave you a transformation wand. I've never seen you before."
Sakuya noted Makoto tense slightly, "You gave it to me a long time ago,
Luna." Makoto's tense expression lessened slightly.
"When?!" Luna demanded.
"During the Silver Millennium?" Usagi amended.
"Of course, My Queen. When else would Luna give it to me?" At her words
Usagi seemed to become even more flustered. <Damn, shouldn't have let
that slip but it's a force of habit.>
"I'm not a queen," Usagi sputtered out.
"Got that right," Rei jabbed.
"HEY!" Usagi turned an angry glare toward Rei who ignored it.
"You are Princess Serenity. Your mother died during the fall of the
Moon Kingdom at the hands of Beryl. Since your mother died that makes
you a queen. The only difference between a princess and a queen is one
has accepted her crown," Sakuya said.
Usagi was now looking puzzled. Rei for her part rolled her eyes. She
did note a small smile flicker across Makoto's face. Ami had shifted to
Mercury and was poking away at her computer. "You'll find I am related
to Makoto-san."
All eyes swung Mercury's way. Feeling eyes upon her she looked up.
"That's true, within two generations to be precise. Exact relationship
unknown. The possibilities are niece, cousin, granddaughter." She
lowered her head again and started to poke at her computer some more.
Makoto felt her stomach relax even more, she was having a hard time from
stopping herself bouncing up and down in excitement. Makoto was elated.
<She's related! She didn't lie to me!>
"That's impossible! I don't remember giving you a wand," Luna stated
flatly.
"You didn't remember there was no Sailor Moon either," Usagi quipped.
The reply however was more automatic rather then thought out.
"There are other methods to prove my identity," Sakuya offered. "Mars
can do a fire reading," she said while pointing to Rei, "Mercury is
probably searching for my records now. And Luna can detect my `Jupiter'
aura."
"I do detect it," Luna admitted. <What was she doing around the Tsukino
home?>
"Well I believe Sako-chan," Makoto stated while pushing herself off the
wall and walking up to Sakuya. Sakuya had insisted that Makoto call her
"Sako".
"So what will we call you?" Minako asked. "I mean having two Jupiters
could get confusing."
"Call me YJ," Sakuya said, <This is treading close but I think I can
pull it off.>
"Why YJ?" Makoto asked with eyebrows raised.
"Younger Jupiter."
"But you're older then me," Makoto protested.
"Yes but you were her first. You are also part of Her Majesty's Court."
"Make's sense to me," Makoto said. This indicated to the others that
Makoto had made up her mind and was not about to change her position on
the matter. "So what do we tell the world at large?"
"Cousin would do if you wish," Sakuya replied mildly. <What's Luna
chewing on? She's got a look on her face that says the thought's rather
unpleasant.>
"Cousins? You don't think.... Usagi, do you think Chibi-Usa's related
to you? You guys look awfully similar like Sako-chan and Mako-chan do,"
Minako interjected.
"That is Sakuya. Not Sako," Sakuya said while glaring at Minako. <I
haven't given you permission to use that name. You won't get it for
awhile either.> Minako just flushed and averted her eyes.
Usagi cocked her head in consideration. <No, I wouldn't want to be
related to that spore. Well I'm being unfair. Chibi-Usa has been
trying hard to behave lately. We fight, but...> Nodding once, Usagi
snapped, "Why would I be related that spore?!" <I kinda do hope we are.
I'm not gonna tell the others that though.>
Rei blinked, that hadn't occurred to her. She resisted the urge to make
a snide remark but instead turned to Ami and said, "Could your computer
tell you if she's related to the Usagi?"
"Yes, I'd have to get a DNA scan from Chibi-Usa but it would at least
tell me if they are related and, if so, how far apart in generations."
<I'll have to have a talk with Chibi-Usa,> Sakuya noted, <Their
attention span is atrocious.> Makoto tapped her on the shoulder turning
she saw a hint of concern in her face. "What?" she asked softly.
"Sako-chan, where are you staying?" Makoto asked.
"About... It isn't very comfortable," Sakuya replied. <Wonder how she'd
react to me sleeping on a roof?>
"Then you can stay at my place," Makoto said with a tone that didn't
allow any dissension. However this was something that Rei's instincts
were trained to react to.
"I don't think that's a good idea," Rei said. This was the trigger for
a rather large shouting match between Makoto and Rei. The others
watched in fascination. Sakuya just shook her head, <I don't know how
they survived this long.>
Chapter 2.
The first rays of sunshine crept over the windowsill. Sakuya rolled
over slightly enjoying the soft warmth of the bed beneath her. Opening
her eyes slowly, she stretched. Looking around the guest room of
Makoto's place she noted that it was small but welcoming. She had to
assure Makoto that it was fine and even threaten to leave if Makoto
fussed with one more thing in the room.
<Obaa-san, your fussing over me at age fifteen and you're still doing it
almost a thousand years later. You've always made me feel at home even
though we have our fights,> Sakuya mused.
Getting up she changed into some clean clothes. She had gone back to
the campsite and gathered up everything. Sakuya had some trouble
convincing Makoto that she could do it alone. <If she managed to get her
homework done last night, we could spend the day together.>
Opening the door she could already hear her host rumbling around in the
kitchen making breakfast. Maybe this won't be so bad after all; then
she remember that she still had to keep an eye on her charge.
******
"That was great!" Sakuya declared after sitting back from the table.
Patting her stomach she stretched again.
"You think so?" Makoto asked, <I know my friends like my cooking
especially Usagi but it means more coming from family.> Makoto blushed.
<Sako-chan was also able to explain that math to me.> Makoto smiled
slightly, she had thought that this weekend would simply be boring
schoolwork and nothing else.
"Just like Sobo makes," Sakuya said with a huge grin. <You're still a
good cook, Obaa-san.>
Makoto blinked, "I cook like your grandmother?" <That's one complement
I've never gotten from the others.>
"Oh yes, Mako-chan, you're like her. She cooks from the heart." Sakuya
winked. Makoto found herself confused between the wink and the subtle
message that was eluding her. Smiling she picked up the plates and
headed for the kitchen, this was going to be great.
Getting up Sakuya followed her. Under protest from Makoto Sakuya helped
with the dishes. After they were cleaned and put away Sakuya turned to
Makoto and said, "Sako-chan, what would you like to do?"
"Well we have the morning free but Luna has planned a training session
this afternoon. Let's get out of here whatever we do," Makoto said
heading for the door.
Following her Sakuya said, "It would figure that if you aren't in school
Luna has training planned." Shaking her head Sakuya thought, <Luna
still does that, after all that time.> Aloud, "Maybe we should ask Luna
if she would like me to join."
"Why? I think you'd be welcome. Oh, I see your point." And with that
they left.
******
It was still early when Chibi-Usa, still wearing her pajamas, knocked on
Usagi's door. There was no answer. She frowned slightly, <I need to
ask Usagi something. I could ask Ikuko-mama but I don't really want to.>
Bracing herself for the storm that would ensue when she woke Usagi up
this early, she entered the room.
Carefully making her way over to the bed she first pushed the snoring
Usagi but there wasn't any response. She decided to get up on the bed
and started to bounce up and down. The only thing this accomplished was
to wake up Luna. Chibi-Usa was sure Luna was giving her a very nasty
look. Stopping this activity she considered how far she was willing to
go to ask this question.
Shaking her head Chibi-Usa climbed off of the bed and started to head
for the door. She was about to open it when Usagi's sleepy voice could
be heard. "Chibi-Usa-chan?" Usagi yawned, "What's wrong?"
Chibi-Usa turned back, Usagi was propped up on one elbow looking bleary
eyed at her small visitor. "I wanted to ask you something, Usagi-chan."
"I hope it was important." Usagi growled out, "I was looking forward to
sleeping in today since there isn't any school." Chibi-Usa stood there
for a moment and considered.
"No, it wasn't important," Chibi-Usa said with a sigh. <Here it comes,>
Chibi-Usa thought, <She wouldn't think it was important.> "I'm sorry
for waking you up, Usagi-chan." Turning she was about to open the door
to leave when she heard Usagi pad up behind her. <Uh oh, I didn't think
Usagi would get this mad,> Chibi-Usa worried.
Usagi's next words surprised both Luna and Chibi-Usa, "Did you say it
wasn't important because I might not think it was?" Slowly Chibi-Usa
turned around slightly, Usagi was standing there with a strange
expression on her face. Chibi-Usa nodded in the affirmative.
Sighing Usagi took Chibi-Usa's hand and pulled her over to the bed. She
sat down, looked at Chibi-Usa, and said, "I would like to hear it. If
when to the trouble to come in here, then you must of thought I could
help. So what's the problem?"
Chibi-Usa stood there for the better part of a minute, then she pulled
her hand away from Usagi. She didn't notice the hurt look that sped
across Usagi's face. Hopping up on the bed she sat beside Usagi and
then she said, "How...how do you make people like each other?"
"You shouldn't," Usagi said, she saw Chibi-Usa's look of confusion.
"Chibi-Usa-chan, if you force people to like each other, they may start
not liking you."
"Why can't they get along?!" Chibi-Usa yelled. <Puu and Sako should be
friends. I know they both care about me.>
"Shhh." Usagi made a motion to keep quiet, <I don't want to wake Mom.
She wouldn't like being woke up this early.> "Who are `they'?" Usagi
asked in a low voice.
"They're friends. They both like me but they fight with each other,"
Chibi-Usa said glumly. "I want them to like each other. I just don't
know why they fight with each other."
"You mean they fight like Rei and I?" Usagi asked, "We fight all the
time but we still like each other."
Chibi-Usa shook her head, "No, Usagi-chan, they FIGHT. They hate each
other. I've heard them argue when they thought I wasn't around. I
asked Mama why they fight and Mama said that I shouldn't get involved in
other people's business."
Usagi considered this for a few minutes. She didn't know what to say.
<I've never had that problem. Sure, I might seem to dislike Umino but
he's okay. The only person that might hate me would be...> Usagi
forcefully shoved that thought from her mind, <NO! He does love me, but
now isn't the time.> Turning slightly she said, "Gomen, Chibi-Usa-chan
but I can't help you. There are people that just don't like each other
for one reason or another. I do know that you shouldn't force them to
like each..." Usagi trailed off, <Am I doing that? Am I not accepting
that Mamoru doesn't...doesn't love me?>
Chibi-Usa looked on, she was waiting for Usagi to finish, <I just don't
like to see them fight. Usagi said I shouldn't force them to like each
other but what if I asked them to be friends?> Chibi-Usa yawned,
"Usagi-chan? Is something wrong?"
"No, no. I was just thinking," Usagi said.
"That's a first," Chibi-Usa said. Then she realized what she had said
quickly she covered her mouth, her eyes growing wide. She didn't even
look at Usagi. <That wasn't very nice to say,> she thought belatedly,
"Usagi-chan, I'm..."
Usagi cut her off, "Leave, now," Usagi said while pointing at the door.
"I'm sorry, Usagi-chan, it just slipped out." Chibi-Usa pleaded,
"Please I didn't mean it!" She faced Usagi's stern face, her eyes
sagged slightly and she took on a slightly scared look. <Please Usagi?>
Chibi-Usa thought.
<I will not give in,> Usagi thought, but looking at that unhappy look
coming from those eyes was just too overwhelming. "I'll accept. But
it's still early. You should go back to bed." Chibi-Usa got up but
didn't make any motion to leave. "Why are you standing there?" Usagi
asked as she crawled back into bed.
Chibi-Usa's answer was to crawl in beside Usagi. "Just what do you
think your doing?" Usagi said. <Offering advice is one thing. Sharing
my bed's another.>
Chibi-Usa just snuggled up to Usagi, resting her head on Usagi's arm.
<This feels nice,> she thought to herself, <I remember... I remember...>
Chibi-Usa never got the chance to finish the thought before she drifted
off to sleep again.
Usagi was perplexed. <What to do?> she thought, <I could make a fuss and
kick her out but that might backfire.> She looked at the sleeping child
beside her. <No, I don't mind this really.> Shifting slightly she pulled
the blankets up to keep out the morning chill. "You know, I almost feel
like a mother," Usagi mumbled before going back to sleep.
Luna who had witnessed the entire thing in disbelief just shook her
head, <I think I'll got talk to Artemis. At least he's predictable!>
******
Chibi-Usa had been getting dressed when she heard a funny noise, at
first she didn't think much of it unitl it repeated itself, only
louder.
"Psst."
Chibi-Usa looked around her room, <Where did that come from?> She
wondered. She couldn't see anything.
"Over here." Came the low voice, Chibi-Usa walked towards the windows
and looked out to see Sakuya pecariously clining to the wall.
"Sako-chan?!?" Chibi-Usa in surprise.
"Keep it down!" Sakuya hissed, "listen. Usagi and the others have
got it into there head that you're related to Usagi."
"Me related that baka odango atam? Yeah right~"
"Small Lady listen to me!" Sakuya hissed back, <I don't really have
time for this.>
Chibi-Usa knew she was to pay close attention. Sakuya manner indicated
that she should, or else. Chibi-Usa grimace internally, she had on
occasion be on the recieving end of the or else, it wasn't pretty.
"You'll have to use Luna-P to mess with the DNA reading."
"Mess it up why, I'm not sick." Chibi-Usa frown.
"Look, I don't have a lot of time. Can you get the Luna-P to listen
to me just this once. It's important Small Lady, I wouldn't ask you
if it wasn't."
"Tell me why we have to do this." Chibi-Usa demanded, helping Sako-chan
hide her identity was one thing but actually letting her use it was
another.
"Small Lady," Sakuya said exsaperratedly, "there are certian things
that I am responsible for. Your safty is one of them. The others
may not harm you, but people that know about your DNA can scan for
it. Those people that have been after you could use it to locate
you." Sakuya watched, <Come on, your smart. Put it together.>
"You mean those bad people could find me if they new what my blood
was?" Chibi-Usa said.
"Yes."
Motioning the Luna-P Chibi-Usa said, "Luna-P, listen to Sako-chan
she has a plan." Her response was Luna-P bobbing in response.
******
Late that same night, Ikuko and Kenji were returning home. Queitly
they opened the door and moved into the house. Everyone seemed to
be in bed. That was until Ikuko saw two people sitting on the couch.
Usagi had her head lulled back, mouth gapping making snoring noises.
Chibi-Usa was curled on Usagi's lap, fast asleep as well. Ikuko
didn't relish the prospect of waking either, she could carry Chibi-Usa
but Usagi was a different matter.
Usagi felt someone move up besided her and remove something heavy from
her lap. She heard her mother's voice quietly calling her, opening her
eyes she say her father moving up the stairs carrying Chibi-Usa.
"Thank you for looking after them for tonight Usagi. How were they?"
Ikuko asked her groggy daughter.
"Fine." Was Usagi's yawned response. <I won't tell mom that Chibi-Usa
and shingo tried to shave Luna. Well I'll say Shingo did, I'm kinda
sad that Chibi-Usa wasn't related to me. I was sure that Ami's test
would prove that we were related. She looks like me.> Giving a gusty
sigh she moved up to her room.
After twenty minutes when the house was in darknes again and everyone
else was asleep Chibi-Usa crept into Usagi's room and snuggled under
the covers. <I feel guilty for saying that I was glad I wasn't
related to Usagi. She was nice enough to let me stay up with her.>
Chapter 3
It had been three days after her introduction to the other Senshi.
Sakuya was sitting at Makoto's home looking at a map. <Why have these
guys been attacking these points?> Sakuya wondered as she marked the
latest attack position on the map. <Why'd Pluto let them through time?
It just doesn't make any sense.>
Sakuya had been keeping a low profile. Her surveylance of Chibi-Usa was
slightly hampered by the fact that she couldn't tell the others that she
knew Chibi-Usa. She had spent that Sunday afternoon watching the other
Senshi train. She was neither invited nor wanted to participate in
their training. <That was a sad thing to see.>
Noting the time she tucked the map away in her belongings and set out to
locate Chibi-Usa again. The other girls were over at Ami's helping
Usagi learn how to cook curry. <I'm glad to see Small Lady and Usagi
getting along better.>
After a few hours of checking spots, Sakuya found her charge.
Unfortunately she wasn't alone. <Well this just makes my job harder,>
Sakuya thought as she noted Mamoru and Chibi-Usa talking to each other
in Mamoru's apartment. Taking up an vantage point Sakuya settled down
to watch them.
******
Sakuya snapped awake, she had dozed off in the afternoon, the sun was
just starting to go down. Looking around she managed to spot Usagi,
Chibi-Usa, and Mamoru walking down the street. <Where are they going?>
she wondered as she got up and started following them. After reaching a
alleyway that was clear Sakuya jumped down and detransformed. She ran
out of the alley to keep the trio in sight.
After a few minutes of following them Sakuya noted that Chibi-Usa took
Usagi's hand. <Very good Small Lady, I'll have to commend you on that,>
she note pleased. It looked like her charge was turning out to be more
mature than she had believed. <Then again maybe not.> Sakuya sighed as
Chibi-Usa snatched her hand out of Usagi's and started yelling. <They
should be okay for now. I think I'll go see if Motoki's in.> This made
Sakuya flush, <You've settled this, Motoki's a cute guy but he's taken.
You can't get involved with him either,> sighing slightly Sakuya started
to follow the trio again.
******
YJ wasn't sure what had happened. She had followed the group to the
supermarket. Then Mamoru and Chibi-Usa came out and headed off in a
different direction. Then the pair had met Rei. Chibi-Usa had somehow
conned Rei into helping her instead of Usagi. But now both Rei and
Mamoru had taken off leaving alone a defenseless Chibi-Usa.
Approaching her YJ called out, "Small Lady."
"Sako-chan?" Chibi-Usa whirled around, "What are you doing here?"
"I was following you. Why did the others take off?"
"I don't know, Rei-chan said something about strange vibes.
Mamo-chan... Why are you frowning Sako... Oh, I mean Younger Jupiter."
YJ looked down at Chibi-Usa, "No, it's nothing. Why did Chiba-kun
leave?"
"I don't know, I think he said something about he'd forgot something."
"Well I'll stay around until they get back."
"Thank you," Chibi-Usa replied while hugging YJ.
******
Later that evening, Usagi shifted the sleeping form of Chibi-Usa in her
arms so she could unlock the door. <First that fight with the droid and
then I have to carry her home. She looks cute when she sleeps though.>
Usagi smiled. Unlocking the door Usagi entered the house.
"There you are," Ikuko said, "I was starting to wonder why you weren't
home yet. How was the curry?"
"Gomen, I had some trouble cleaning up," Usagi said while blushing, "It
was good. Chibi-Usa-chan stuffed herself until she was full. She fell
asleep about five minutes after that."
Ikuko smiled, "That's a good sign. Lot's of good food will make you
sleepy. Here I'll take her." Ikuko moved to take Chibi-Usa from Usagi
but Usagi waved her away.
"No, Mom, it's okay. I can get her up to bed." With that Usagi headed
for the stairs. Ikuko looked after her, <What a strange pair. If
they're not fighting, they're acting extremely civil to each other. I
wonder why?>
******
"You fought another droid?" Sakuya asked Makoto.
"Yep, good thing Rei was close or Luna would have been one skinned cat,"
Makoto noted with a crooked smile. This just elicited a groan from
Sakuya. "You know, I think we need to get you a communicator so that
you can come and help."
"No, Mako-chan, that's okay. I don't think the others trust me enough
to fight with them as part of the team. Besides you don't know what my
powers are."
Makoto smiled, "Well then. Summer break's coming up soon we can test
you out then. I will boast that our teamwork is excellent."
<That wasn't what I wanted. I'm supposed to be unobtrusive.> That's
when Makoto was staring at her. Or rather over her shoulder, "What?"
"Sako-chan, get a load of that cute guy," Makoto whispered.
Turning around she saw the guy indicated, <My he is cute. Looks
to about my age two. His table mate looks like a younger brother
maybe we could double date.> She was about to turn back and agree
when she saw a blur of clothing. "Hey!" she called out to Makoto
who was already on her way to meet this nice chap. Sakuya got up
and bolted after Makoto; both girls arrived at the guy's table at
the same time.
"Hi my name's Makoto." Makoto gushed almost latching onto the stunned
target of affection. "Would you like to go out?" Makoto asked.
Sakuya growled from behind Makoto, <This guy WAS cute. What are you
saying?!? You can't date this guy.> "Good evening, my name is Rakurai
Sakuya," Sakuya said while winking at the handsome young man. He visibly
gulped.
Getting up he approached Sakuya, "I'm pleased to meet you Rakurai-san.
Would you care to join us?" he asked as he indicated his younger
companion.
"No she has things to do!" Makoto said.
"I do?!?"
"Yep, you know THINGS," Makoto said while trying unobtrusively to wave
Sakuya's way.
"No I don't, `Cousin'," Sakuya said. <Obaa-san, your embarrassing me!>
"Yes you do. What about homework?" Makoto said turning around to look at
Sakuya.
"Homework!" Sakuya choked out, "I'm not in school! You're the one in
school!"
"Maybe another time." With that the cute guy and his table companion got
up and hurriedly left. The other patrons of the restaurant looked on in
fascination.
"See what you did!" Makoto shouted, "I could have gone on a date!"
"See what I did?! What about you? That was one hot looking guy. You're
the one that came racing over here and put out his fire!" Sakuya angrily
retorted. <The only relief I have is that, Obaa-san, you're happily
married as far as I can tell.>
"Could you take this outside?" a burly followed said, he appeared to be
the owner of this establishment.
"Oh! You're cute, are you married?"
"Sako-chan!!! How could you ask such a... You're right, he is cute."
"OUT!!!! NOW!!!!!"
Chapter 4
It had been several days since the Senshi's last battle. The summer
break had started a little while ago. The five Inner Senshi had taken
off to some island with Chibi-Usa. Sakuya hadn't gone. She had bowed
out of it saying that she had some things to take care of in the city.
What she really had been doing was conducting some investigation into
the enemy; however, this proved to be futile.
Hearing a noise Sakuya got up and cautiously looked out of her room.
<What was that? It sounds like somebody in the living room.> Quietly
coming out of her room Sakuya softly padded down the hall. Looking
around she saw a form standing near the window. It was hard to see
but the outline suggested it was Makoto.
"Mako-chan? Are you alright?" Sakuya asked concerned.
The figured jumped, there was a slight sniffle and then a shaky voice
said, "I'm fine. Just a dream."
Moving Closer Sakuya could make out some of the facial features but
still everything was hidden in shadows. She had heard the voice, it
said something was wrong and not just a simple dream.
"Want to talk about it?" Sakuya asked. <I wonder what type of dream has
her so badly shaken up?>
Makoto wrapped her arms around herself, as if cold. She stayed like
that for a few minutes before saying. "The others know, they can't
really understand it though."
"Understand what?"
"My...my parents died on a plane crash. Sometimes, I just remember that
day. It sticks with me. I'm glad you're here. The others have family.
They have parents that love them. From what you told me, I think you at
least have a better feeling." Makoto drifted off.
<Oh boy... Obaa-san, I wish I could tell you everything will be okay. I
wish I could tell you that the pain goes away,> Sakuya thought.
"Mako-chan, what bothers you about the dream?" Sakuya asked gently.
"It's not the dream, only that I might forget them that scares me,"
Makoto said while moving to sit on the couch. "I don't want to forget
them. They were the only ones that really understood me."
<How can I help?> Sakuya wondered, <You've done a lot for me, Obaa-san.
I want to help you but I can't tell you much.>
******
Chibi-Usa peeked from under her covers, <Where's that noise coming
from?> she thought nervously as she heard a grating sound. <Is it that
Youma Shingo was talking about?> She heard a moaning sound, <It is!>
Getting up she quietly but quickly ran to her door. Hesitating slightly
she turned the knob and looked down the dark hallway. She slipped out
and closed her door makinge her way over to Usagi's bedroom. Hearing
the scraping noise again, she went into Usagi's room quietly. Neither
Luna nor Usagi woke up.
<Good, the Youma can come and get Usagi,> Chibi-Usa thought, <It'll like
her more then me.> Sliding underneath Usagi's covers she snuggled up to
Usagi. <I hope the Youma goes away, I like to spend time with Usagi,>
Chibi-Usa grimaced, <Why'd I think that? Usagi's a baka odango atama.>
******
Sakuya yawned, she was waiting with the other girls for Usagi. They had
apparently decided to go shopping and Makoto had asked Sakuya to come
along. <I really should be watching Small Lady but I do need to get some
more clothes. And besides, outside of school, I haven't had time to
visit with the others. Rei seems to not to mind me so much now, Ami's
shy, and Minako is still a little stand-offish. Obaa-san, you're a
fussy person in the future and you're one here also,> Sakuya thought.
"Sako-chan, where are you going?" asked Makoto as she saw Sakuya get up
and head down the street. "If I don't start moving, I'll fall asleep.
Please wait for Usagi. I'll catch up with you." With that Sakuya
started to jog away.
"What a stuck up..." Minako started but found herself face to face with
Makoto.
"She isn't `stuck up'," Makoto growled out.
Oblivious to the ensuing argument about her attitude, Sakuya tried to
shake the feeling that something was wrong. She couldn't pin it down,
just some sense of unease. <The last time I felt like this it ended
with Endymion hating me,> Sakuya thought, <I did not ignore this feeling
then and I won't now.>
After walking for a short distance she noted two figures. One was
Chibi-Usa who slipped into a hole in a fence. The other was Usagi who
had almost walked passed the site, then followed Chibi-Usa inside. <What
are those two up to? That's a construction site. Small Lady should not
be in there.>
Making sure that no one could see her Sakuya transformed and started to
head towards the site. It didn't take long to make her way inside and
to a good vantage point. She saw Chibi-Usa talking to Luna-P. She also
could hear Pluto responding. <Pluto's forcing her to stay her? Not if
I can help it,> Sakuya thought darkly. However before she could go down
there and have Pluto pull both of them home she was pulled short by the
appearance of all four sisters.
Younger Jupiter was about to leap down and put herself in front of
Chibi-Usa when Sailor Moon appeared and began arguing with them. Moving
quietly Younger Jupiter moved around to get a better vantage point to
attack from. <If I can get them all in one place I can use a `Sheet
Lighting' to get them.> Standing she was about to launch her attack
when the other four Senshi showed up. <Well, I'll step in if it's
needed. No use in letting the enemy know that I'm here as well.>
They started battling when the odds were suddenly shifted by the
appearance of a fifth person, male. "Rubeus..." Younger Jupiter
breathed, <That confirms it. It's the Black Moon Family then.> Deciding
that the time of action was upon her she launched her attack at the new
target.
However it was too late, Rubeus had already blasted Sailor Moon and
Small Lady. "Sheet Lighting!" Younger Jupiter called out. Suddenly
there was a tremendous explosion and a column of lighting shot from the
cloudless sky. It struck Rubeus and enveloped him. Taking this
opportunity Younger Jupiter jumped down to place herself between Rebeus
and her two charges.
"Who dares to attack me?!" Rubeus yelled, "Who are you!?!" he demanded
of Younger Jupiter.
"Sailor Moon, get him now!"
"Hai!" Sailor Moon responded, producing her weapon she called out, "Moon
Princess Halation!" The attack sped its deadly way towards Rubeus just
as it started to take effect he vanished.
Younger Jupiter looked warily around, "Where'd he go?" she asked.
"This isn't over yet. Uncanny sisters retreat." With that the four
uncanny sisters and Rubeus retreated in a shimmer of teleportation
magic.
"You!" called a new male voice. Everyone glanced up to see Tuxedo Kamen
on a crane. He leaped off and landed a few feet away from the still
wary Younger Jupiter who was protecting Sailor Moon and Chibi-Usa. "Who
are you?" he demanded.
"I have to go Sailor Moon. I'll see you later." With that Younger
Jupiter took off over the fence and away from the battle scene. The
other Senshi watched in fascination.
"Well, what do you know? She isn't interested in Tuxedo Kamen,"
remarked Venus. The others didn't pay any attention though, they wanted
to go see how Sailor Moon and Chibi-Usa were.
******
Later that night, Chibi-Usa knocked on Usagi's door softly, she was
really supposed to be in bed. Hearing a soft reply she opened the door
and slipped into the dark room.
"Chibi-Usa-chan, what are you doing up?" Usagi said. She wasn't
surprised to see Chibi-Usa since only that day the little girl had
nearly been killed by the Black Moon Family. <You seem to like Sailor
Moon, maybe I should tell you who I am. No, that would make you not
trust me,> Usagi belatedly thought.
"Can I sleep in your bed Usagi? I'm scared those bad people could try
and get me again," Chibi-Usa said. She seemed scared and apprehensive.
"On one condition," Usagi said. <I want a dry sleep tonight but
accidents happen.>
"I promise I won't wet the bed," Chibi-Usa said with a forceful tone.
"I would appreciate that. I was thinking. How about giving me a hug?"
Usagi said. <You hugged Sailor Moon but why not use that to my
advantage and get two in the bargain?>
Nodding Chibi-Usa almost happily hopped onto Usagi's bed and gave her
the strongest hug she could. "Thank you, Usagi-chan," Chibi-Usa said.
"Your quite welcome, now get in there. If Mom catches us up this late
we'll both be in trouble." Her only response was giggling from
Chibi-Usa.
Chapter 5
"Chibi-Usa-chan, it's time for bed," Ikuko called.
"But I wanna stay up," Chibi-Usa complained, "Just for a little while
longer?"
"No, now come on. Up to bed and I'll read you a story."
"I'll go to bed if Usagi-chan reads me a story," Chibi-Usa said while
crossing her arms. <Usagi reads good stories. It's been almost four
days since she read me a story. That was the night I wet the bed.> This
last thought caused Chibi-Usa to flush slightly. <Usagi even let me
stay in her bed after those bad people try to take me.>
Ikuko sent a pleading look over to Usagi. Usagi seemed to considered it
then sighed heavily. <She's making a show out of this. I don't know
why. I certainly wouldn't mind them getting along better.>
"Okay, come on spore. What do you want me to read to you?"
Ikuko shook her head as she left the two arguing Usagi's. Over her
shoulder she said, "I want Chibi-Usa-chan in bed in five minutes, or
else." Once Ikuko had left the room and the two girls were alone Usagi
winked at Chibi-Usa.
This caused Chibi-Usa to frown, "What?" <Why did Usagi suddenly smile
and wink at me?>
"You were great!" Usagi crowed in a low voice heading up the steps.
"I was?" Chibi-Usa asked puzzled, "Great at what?"
"I do have a image to keep," Usagi said. This just puzzled Chibi-Usa
more.
"I still don't get..." Chibi-Usa trailed off as she considered what
Usagi might be saying. <I still don't get it. Baka Usagi, I'm just a
little kid.>
******
Sakuya walked out of the movie theater. She and Makoto had been
watching a new film when Makoto had gotten a call about a droid. She
had told Makoto to go ahead. <Obaa-san's become wary of me. She can't
understand why I won't help. Sooner or later I'll have to have a talk
with her.>
As she headed for Makoto's apartment she happened to get a glimpse of
someone who looked familiar. Turning around she looked more closely she
saw Mamoru in a bar. Entering she walked over to his table and looked
closely at him.
"I...I know yoush," Mamoru slurred out.
"Are you alright?" Sakuya asked. <I don't like him but his safety is
necessary.>
"I'm...fine. Cept th'm reams," Mamoru said as he began to waver.
"You're plastered!" Sakuya said, this drew the attention of nearby
patrons. <He's drunk! I can't believe it.>
"No I'm not plastered.... I'm fine," Mamoru said as he started to get
up. "See?" he said as he started to climb onto the table.
"What on earth are you doing?"
"I'm a bird. I'm a plane. I'm Endymion!" Mamoru shouted and flung
himself at Sakuya.
Sakuya was so surprised that Mamoru actually managed to partially tackle
her this caused some laughter from those who had witnessed Mamoru's
actions. As she tried to orient herself, she heard one comment that
annoyed her, "Well that is one way to get a woman," a slightly tipsy old
man crowed.
She saw what looked like the bouncer head their way. Grabbing Mamoru by
the shirt collar she hoisted him over her shoulder. After digging
around in her pocket she tossed some bills on the table and then walked
out the door. She received some rather raunchy remarks about what her
intentions were but Sakuya ignored them.
"You k'n..."
"Shut up!" Sakuya said as she continued towards Mamoru's apartment. He
was in no condition to drive and she didn't know how to drive a
motorcycle. So she endured the glances of those she passed until she
finally reached the Mamoru's apartment.
"That feels nice," a half dazed Mamoru's said as Sakuya searched for his
keys. After finding them she opened the door, walked over to the couch,
and heaved Mamoru onto it. Sakuya was about to leave when Mamoru asked
something.
"Wh'd you hate me?" he sleepily slurred out.
"That's simple. A while ago I warned you about a danger that was
present. You wouldn't listen to me. I risked my life and those that
were willing to listen to protect your sorry ass. We defeated this
menace... at a loss. You, My King, ranted that I had disobeyed you.
How I shouldn't have assumed that something was evil. I showed you
solid proof that this menace was about to attack. You said I forged it.
I don't know why."
Sakuya's breathing had become rapid, her blood nearing the boiling point
as she remembered how Endymion had treated her like a child who didn't
know anything.
"H'd you know I was E'd'min?"
"You told me."
"When? Silver Mill..." was the hushed response.
"When else?" Sakuya was about to leave when Mamoru's stomach decided
that its contents needed to decorate the apartment.
******
"What happened to you?" Makoto asked.
"I spotted Mamoru in a bar. He was wasted so badly I had to take him
home. His thanks was to give my outfit a new color scheme."
"Mamoru? Drunk!?!" Makoto said incredulously.
"Well I didn't puke on myself," Sakuya lamented as she headed for her
bedroom.
"I just can't believe it though. Mamoru drunk? He never drank before."
"I think he was trying to bury something," Sakuya called from behind the
closed door.
"Bury? Like what."
"I don't know," Sakuya said after coming out with a fresh set of clothes
on, "He was mumbling about something but until I can talk to him while
he's sober, I won't know."
"I think we need to let Usagi know," Makoto said. <I wonder what's
wrong? Is Mamoru... nah.>
Sakuya just nodded, "So, I think we need to settle this issue with the
others. Either I'm in or out."
"You're in," Makoto stubbornly said.
"We will let the others have their say. Now tell me about this droid."
