Blaster is a clumsy weapon, easily countered, easily destroyed. 
A lightsaber is an elegant weapon from more civilised times, it is the 
weapon of a Jedi. ^_^

 Also you can't slice somebody up piece by piece with a blaster....
 youi can't set a blaster to  *just* penatrate the skin...to sear just a
little bit of it of (like cutting an onion really) untill ...well untill
the person you are doing it to tells you what you want to know..or you get
tired of their screams.....
