Meiyo Ai sohite Nikushimi : Author's Foreword 


     Since I've completed three chapters of Meiyo Ai soshite
Nikushimi, I've decided to put together this foreword that willl give
alittle bit of information about the series in it's entirety. If you really
don't care about this, it's not like I'm going to give away plot, you can
skip it, but this might answer some questions people have.

     Meiyo Ai soshite Nikushimi, MASN for short, is acontinuation
of the Ranma series. The series is divided into Chapters with each
Chapter divided into parts depending on the size of the Chapter. The
series name transltes as Meiyo- Honor, Ai- Love, Nikushimi- hate, and
soshite is a connecting word like and. I realize that soshite is used
wrong, however I did not want to change it to 'to'since I did not like
the look or sound of it.

     As with all fics MASN came about as pure luck. I had written
Atonment in a fit of depression and needed something to express the
depression but a slightly happy ending to lift my spirits. It was never
intended to be more than a single post; however, the dreaded question
"what if?" slipped into my mind like a thief in the night. This what if
developed into what will be Chapter 4. It was a series of six parts hat
will be spead out over several cgampters. However, I realized I had a
problem as I started to make this hat if idea into Chapter 2. I had
skipped about four weeks and I neeede to fill it with some action so I
wrte CH2 as a transition chapter. Unfortunately I came up with the CH
2 I did and I had to write further to solve that problem.
     
     To make a long story longer. Chapter 3 was the product of Ch2
and that has just spawned more problems and plot ideas within my
already overworked mind. I almost just ignored CH 2 and coninued on
blissfully ignorant of it (Note: It is a bad idea for an author to be
blissfully ignorant. Trust me I've known a few.)

     Ch 3 was meant to explain how the other characters would
react to the actions in Ch 2. Although I could have Ch 3 stand alone,
there is no point to it since I've used it to spring board about half a
dozen separate plot ideas that will be used later. If any one wants to
know the main plot, your guesss is as good as mine. I really don't
know. The title of my series is my theme so you can assume that most
everything will fall under those guidelines. But then those three ideas
were central to the original series so I assume I can do a,lomst
anything.

     Unlike the original series, I take a much more serious look at
the Ranma Nibunnoichi characters. I'm trying to create believable pasts
sthat will explain their eccentricies. You'll see me delving into their
childhood's a lot, hoping to shed some light on them and explain how
they appear to me.

     Because this is a seriosu series, I'll put the warning right here.
This is not a happy, happy, joy, joy fic. You should understand this
after reading the first three chapters. This is real life, or as close to it as
I can get. There are no cure all solutions, there are no tidy endings. Life
just solves one problem to have a hundred more to appear and
complicate matters even further. Just look at wher I've gone from a
simple misunderstanding between Ranma and Akane. I will try and put
warnings on the more , ah shall I say depressing chapters , but that si
later.

     I've discussed this project in general up to this point, and now
I'd like to explain a few basics things about the Ranma universe I'm
writing in. MASN starts approximately one and a half years after
Ranma first meets Akane. I'm assuming Ranma made his appearanc ein
September or October. In this story the Saffron incident in volume 37
and 38 never happened, nor has Nodoka discovered about Ranma's
curse. Basically everyone has been introduced, but tnothing has been
remotely resolved. .

     Well this is about as much as I ant to explain right now. Most of
it will be explained in the Author's Notes at the end of each post.

     One more thing. I seriously encourage criticism and comments
on my writing, even if it is to just say "I love it" or "You suck, go back
to the rock you crawled out from." ^_^

     Also, really this is the last topic, since MASN is becoming so
long I've got a request to make. I don't have a web page or access to
one. It is becoming harder to repsond to poeple who have missed large
numbers of my posts, and will become even more difficult in the later
chapters. I would be most appreciative of anyone who would be willing
to place MASN on his/her webpage. If you are interested, please contat
me and I'll give you the basic information and copies of MASN in
whatever form you want. Pleasse someone help me with this.
