I've checked with my local company (who were evasive, but did admit to
it), and a friend checked with the FCC. This one is actually pending. It
is _not_ quite as bad as is listed; but they want to more rigidly enforce
the data/voice line classifications. E.g. a line classified as 'voice'
would have per-minute charges for data (fax/modem) use, while a line
classified as 'data' would have charges for voice (non-data) use.
The people who will be most affected are those who use one phone line for
both data and voice, if this passes.
