Well, to be fair...
Wolf _was_ perhaps a bit harsh, but you did also say that something which
is Canon (read the last volume of the manga) could not possibly be so.
Now, if I remember correctly (it's been a whil since I read the last
volume), the spring into which Akane was dunked was _undiluted_ magic
water, while the springs in Jyusenkyou have been diluted by their trip up
to the pools.
This would tend to imply that the diluted (and therefore, weaker) water
merely affects you in a more general way (which could also explain why
merely being splashed, instead of immersed, does not replace your curse,
but alter it (e.g. Tarou's octopus tentacles)), while the pure, undiluted
water literally changes you to be an exact match of whatever drowned
there.
