I think Hitomi once mentioned a belief/theory that every 'fictional'
universe actually exists, and is 'real' to itself?

Heinlein did something like that in The Number of the Beast. A good read,
especialy if you like crossovers.

Which is, of course, just a special case of the 'Many Worlds'
interpretation of Quantum Mechanics - which more than saying that every
*fictional* world really exists somewhere, says every *possible* (no
matter how improbable) world exists. So there is a world where everything
is exactly the same, except I didn't write this message. And one where the
only difference is that I actually finished this sen...

Ah...But the rules don't have to be constant from one universe to the next.
Hence all the impossible universes exits too!

Infinity is such a cool concept...you should think about it...a lot....

Funny.... :)
But...
I think reality can and does give and take more....
Little things like that can be glossed over by odd explanations like...
you never posted...you decieded to end in a humerous way or you wer cut
off...I personally don't think that this factor would cause such a
world-shift as to make a real and percevable difference in reality...
I DO think however that major eevents which change both civilization and
topography do.

Ah, But that's not the point. The point is that it doesn't matter whether
the difference is significant...just that there is a difference. Carried to
its logical conclusion, this means that there are alternate universes
identical to this one down to a difference of ONE QUARK. A lot of them
infact. There is no need for *significance* - if there was, how in all
existance would humanity have any alternates? One star dwindles to
insignificance in relation to cosmic size...and the PLANET dwindles to a
speck in comparison to the sun..and we are Virtually NOTHING compared to the
size of earth. (All the biomass on the planet - Plus all the water on earth
and the atmosphere to - don't add up to even a tenth of a percent of the
mass of the planet. Nice bit of trivia. The sun accounts for over 98% of
the mass of the solar system, nicer bit of trivia. Remember the sun is a
*small* star, on the average. Not really small, but not very big at all,
relitive to most.)

Something like the OJ trial is minor...and if WE had been shunted down a
different path it or something close to it would still have happened.

But t'would not be the -SAME-. EVERY difference has effect - just ask
Fundamental laws (Wyldfire: Hey, Gravity! Gravity: Yessss? Wyldfire: At
what distance does the force you exert between two objects equal zero?
Gravity <MML>: Never! I only -APROXIMATE- zero!)

JFK living would have created ripples however as it would have probably
avoided the Vietnam confilict, more developed and urged on the so called
"space race" BUT Watergate would have still occured in the shape of
Marilyn Monroe.
In the Quantum Leap Universe if Project Starbright had actually worked the
whole process of leaping would never have happened but we would have FTL
travel. Would Becket still have gone on to build Ziggy and work on QL?
possibly...but with a lot more publicity and more funding.

Who knows....?

                      N
Nobody. It's all done with mirrors......

<ps: Infinity is big. Really Big. No. BIGGER THAN THAT. And there are
infinitely infininite infinities worth of infinity!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!(more, even!)>
