I've noticed that all of the Ranma character got cursed by falling into one
of the springs. There isn't a single one that got the curse by being
splashed. Even Herb and associates have to dunk animals into the desired
spring for the curse to take effect. I suspect that the cursed water looses
it's effect when removed from the spring.

Oh, it keeps its effect, all right. Happousai got a bump dashed with
Twin-spring water (Pansuto Tarou episode), and got two bumps on his head.
So, the water has SOME effect after being taken out of the spring.

Permanent? Well, the water affected the bump. Bumps go away.

John Walter Biles sort of followed this idea in "Putting your heart in the
right place" except that the water was non-permanent (one-shot actually)...
not powerless.

Perhaps this is how the instant Jyusenkyo spring products are made.

P.S.: In case you're wondering, I feel that it is fundamentaly wrong for
some nut (usually prnounced Happousai) to run around with Jyusenkyo water
and curse people at will. That stuff is just a little TOO dangerous to
simply splash around. :)

Danger is what the Jyusenkyo springs are all about! It doesn't particularly
care what the alignment of the person who's using them. In fact, it might
purpousely exert as much of an influence to its segregated waters as
possible so that it may get more victims.
