As an author, I have a request.
If you see something and read it, please email the author to say
*somehting*. Even it it's
"I liked it" or "I don't get it." or "I deleted it because the spelling
was so bad."
Hear, hear!
I second the motion. :)
If you've already spent 10-30 minutes reading a 'fic, it costs nothing
to send a short reply. I always try to send something back to the
authors on stories I read, even if it's only a few words.
Examples?
"Cute. :)"
"That was funny. ^_^"
"Nice characterisation, and I loved the style."
Each one of those took about five seconds to type. Getting no commentary
on a story is VERY discouraging, especially to beginning writers, and I've
even heard established authors complain of it. Though a reply be ever so
short, it can brighten someone's day to let them know their work's being
read.
