Short, amusing, well-written. All in all, a good first story.
The Jusenkyo angle was fairly predictable, although the identity of the
whale wasn't. Akane got lucky; had she run into the wrong ship, she would
have ended up as dog food, cooking oil, and perfume.
One wonders how she'll deal with life with this curse...alough whales
are air-breathers, it would be rather inconvienient to change on dry land.
And finally, given Akane's noted inability to swim...
