intention to unsubscribe to the list for a term of four months to conclude
her hunt for the famous 'College Degree'. To that end, she has also taken
a leave of absence from her position as 'Co-Maintainer of the Fanfic ML
FAQ' placing the sole burden of this sacred position upon the broad
shoulders of Lord Panda."
The crowd looks at Panda...
'Tis sad but true my friends. She is leaving us for a short while to pursue
the elusive "Collegus Degreeus", a wily critter that I feel sure will fall
within her
skillful clutches. Even so, we wish you the best of luck in your hunt Blue
Tigress!!! :)
"Nay, do not lose heart, good folk, for she has announced her intentions
to return to these noble environs in June when she has captured her
quarry. Until then, she bids thee farewell and fair writings."
The crowd disperses, and Panda shuffles off home to his bamboo grove at the
Beijing Zoo to contemplate the near-future as sole FAQ Maintainer. After a
cigar and a few glasses of sake, he recalls the events of the fall of '95
with a secret fondness, that evokes a wistful smile. Chang, head zookeeper
at the Beijing Zoo, walks in and sees his companion in a thoughtful mood,
and reconsiders his inquiry about the rate at which his black and white
furred charge has been eliminating the local sake reserve. He smiles, and
then turns to go, leaving Panda to reminisce in peace...
As Chang steps toward the exit from the grove, Panda's distant voice drifts
through the bamboo pipe on a breeze, compelling him to stop again. "She's a
great card player Chang. I'll miss her greatly while she's away."
Chang smiles again to himself and shakes his head, knowing full well that
his friend admires the Blue Tigress for more than just her card playing
prowess. After a moment of silence, Chang replies, his tone curious, but
also inflected with intent. "Why you keep this inside you all the time? Why
you not tell her what you feel Panda-san?"
After another moment of silence, made longer by the steady sound of singing
crickets and the sweltering heat of the bamboo grove's interior, Panda
responds cryptically, his voice betraying a playful tone. "Well that
wouldn't be any fun now, would it?"
Chang shakes his head and smiles, then steps out into the sun to attend to
the other animals. "Crazy bear. Should be writing his fanfic instead of
thinking about women!"
