Can you deny that the later, oh, say 3 or 4 of the gayfics were written
mostly to be sick. They all had author apologies or statements to that (and
since a few were in the "fics never to be written" piece.... That might say
enough there)
YOU.. asked for warning labels *Or was it someone else?* As such, they were
labeled as warnings. *I* will not apologize for ANYTHING I write. If someone
believes they need to apologize, it's because of people with closed minds
who babble and never give OPEN examples of what they're talking about. WHICH
fics are you talking about? Because *I* haven't seen any that openly
apologized yet.
Would you support a picture of a 10-year old girl eating the shit of a
man deficating on her face while a 12-year old boy pissed all over her?
What if it was obviously not taken of a willing girl?
Now, obviously if such a picture was taken and released, the photographer
thought it had some sort of artistic merit. Would you support it on those
grounds? (The picture described above is, I hope, fictional)
Now, mind you I'm not saying that gay fanfiction is always like that.
That's not only an outrageous example, it is, IMO, a rather disgusting one.
Personally, *I* wouldn't look at it and I hope that the authorities would
take care of the "artist", as you so charmingly put it. That's not artistry,
that's illegal (at least, in the US. I'd hope it was illegal everywhere, but
that would be a rather empty hope, now wouldn't it?) What *I'M* talking
about is sex *and/or fiction* between consenting adults. Most "gay" fic
writers portray the sex IN THAT MANNER. Between consenting adults -- where
it should be.
Well, fine. But make it serious, not just done to make a reader sick.
However, you better explain the reason for his switch on view of Ryouga or
most of the other male leads.
On the average, boys who are going to experiment with the opposite sex do so
in junior high -- the time at which Ranma and Ryouga met. Now, that would
make it a viable possibility under most circumstances *Take, for example,
Ridgewolfe's "Why do we Fight?"* That experimentation, and even their
fighting, can be explained. Ranma fights with Akane, and the majority of
opinions profess that he loves her, do they not? Wouldn't it therefore give
some sense of viability to the very possibility if we looked at it in that
manner?
And just who in *#!! decides that it makes the readers sick? Almost any
story written will offend one or more persons -- although it might very well
be palatable to a hundred others.
Well, I said to add the sex. "Make it a lemon and...."
Furthermore, I would sorta expect the tag to be at the TOP, not the
bottom.
It does help. :P
Yep. Usually does, doesn't it? XP
I'm not saying that gay fics can't be written. I don't know how often
I must say this. However, they need to be written WELL, not just written
to make people sick by outdoing the last gayfic. That's the difference,
I think.
Also, the posters may be like myself. That is, while I don't condemn
male homosexuality itself, I do *NOT* want to be privy to said type of
relationship. That said, I don't particularly have desires to write about a
male homosexual relationship. I will, however, do so if I get an idea that
makes the story move better. As of yet, it hasn't happened with something
I'm writing, though. In fact, with all the various story starts and plans I
have, only one of them has been altered to have a lesbian character who was
important to the story line. (I'm excluding Wild Horse Charging.... as that
was written purely for the lemon content and upon request.)
I don't know. This is really getting to be spam. After this, I'm done
posting about this to the list. I will continue the discussion via private
e-mail if you wish.
Hmmm, I'll agree. Of course, poorly written or not -- that's technically
what the FFML is for and so even the poorly written fics should be sent for
the sake of creativity. Outdoing the last fic (or whatever) has never been
something that really entered my own mind and sometimes I'm actually so
naive as to believe that it doesn't enter the minds of others, either. If
it's something you don't want to read, don't read it. As for me, if and when
I post gay fic (lemon or plotful, either one), I promise to label it -- just
so that nobody gets their panties tied into knots over it :)
And if you'd like to continue the conversation, I'm always willing.
