A friend of mine and I have been...discussing...this at length.  The correct
romanji spelling of The Eternally Lost Boy's name is Ryoga.  Not Ryouga.
That's a pronunciation guide.  Same with Ukyo, Tendo, and Kuno.  The '-ou-'
means you hold the 'o' longer.  However, that is not included in the
spelling. 

Actually, it is. I've got the original manga in front of me. Ryouga's name
is composed of two Kanji with the On readings 'ryo-u' (Nelson 3885) and
'ga' (Nelson 2848). Hence: Ryouga. The only reasonable alternative
romanizations requires either the use of a macron: 
  _
Ryoga

or directly doubling the 'o' (not a prefered way, but a few people choose
it):

Ryooga.

But 'ryoga' is simply incorrect.


The possible correct romanizations for the names you listed are:
           _
Ryouga   Ryoga   Ryooga
             _
Tendou   Tendo   Tendoo
            _    
Kunou    Kuno    Kunoo
            _
Ukyou    Ukyo    Ukyoo

I would avoid the third column simple because very few people use that
romanization scheme and so it is confusing, and the second because placing
macrons manually in plain text requires assuming a mono-spaced font and
                                                                  _
adds funny line spacing to fake the macron over the names like Ukyo.

So, in my opinion, the best romanizations to use are:

Ryouga, Tendou, Kunou, and Ukyou.

You can thank Viz for the "dropped 'u'" versions floating around. As far
as I can tell, their spellings are simply 'the names look more natural to
an English speaker this way.' Viz has always been, ah, _liberal_ with
their translations.
