I thought this was a great peice of work by Bert, and, IMO, one of the
strengths of the Zone series, he doesn't just gloss over the moral &
pscological (sp?) issues, as many writers do, he dives headlong into them,
producing an almost immersing effect for the reader. There were several
points during the "downward spiral" that Bert takes after his capture by
Hollister that had me mouthing a heartfelt "Oh my God!" as I was reading
them, and for a while I didn't think that he would come back from the
brink.

  Also (I know I know I said TWO things) Sure, he manages to save the day
once and a while but how many of the groups problems reciently are
indirectly in some way caused by him???
  That's not your typical scenario in a wish-fufillment work...

This is another reason that I am finding Zone so enjoyable, it is pretty
realistic in the universe it is set in, not everything goes right for any
of the characters. Don't ask me to work out the math, but I may not be
wrong in saying that the wrongs outway the rights in Zone, but this tends
to be the way of things in real life as well.
