Yes. By saying, "I don't want to see this and you ought not to post it", you
say, "Don't post this, you have no right to post this because it offends
me." *IMO, of course* Point being, we should all check our constitution and
just not READ stuff that we think will offend us. Particularly if it's
already been labeled.

I agree, no one should write a story *JUST* to outdo someone else.. If we
were all doing that, we'd never get any originality. But originality and
creativity should be allowed to flow from *ALL* directions without censure.
I, for one, am none too impressed with these gay-Ranma stories. Most do
seem to be just a "can I make this even sicker than the last one?" sort of
story.
And, since most of these stories have come with some sort of author
apology or such, I fail to see how these are "mistakes" of any type.
Mistakes, Schmistakes. It's viable fanfic because it's creative output. So
long as the author feels secure in releasing it, then it isn't a mistake as
far as I'm concerned.
I'm not impressed by your call for censorship.
I'm not impressed with the stories. Now, I'm not a
"must-be-Ranma-cannon-for-me-to-read-it" sort of person. Heck, I'm working
on 2 more somber and serious Ranma stories. Admittadly, I'm working on
another project which...stretches some bounds, but I hope there's a
sembalance of plot to provide the reasons for the events...
Alas, I digress. I would dearly like to see some sort of warning tag
in the event that people continue writing these stories. I mean, when I
got to the end of that fic and Ranma professed his love for KUNO! That just
got absurd.
I admit, it's farfetched.. but it WAS highly amusing. Kudos, sugar. I liked
it a lot.
If it's a serious look into Ranma being gay, then damnit, provide some
sort of reason for his obvious love of Akane.
Ever considered Ranma the BISEXUAL? There's a pretty obvious answer, and
*yes*, I've been thinking about that. I mean, why not, he's.. er..
transgendered? bigendered? ... why not bisexual too? After all, there are a
lot of bisexuals out there.. who's to say Ranma isn't any different? (Yes,
I've been contemplating this for QUITE some time.)
don't do it just to make the reader sick. If that's your purpose, might I
suggest that you make it a lemon and post it to alt.sex.stories.gay or some
such, or at least give it a tag so those of us with less sturdy stomachs
can avoid making a stinky mess of our keyboards.
Oh, bosh! And what if it doesn't have sex IN it? Hmm? Then just where the
SOQUE should it be posted? Warning tags, I will agree, are a good idea. They
should be placed for all fics IMO. {This is a
darkfic/lemon/lemonbi/make-you-cry-and-sob fic} ... I mean, c'mon, it's
always good to know exactly what you're about to step into. Most authors
*DO* give fair warning. It would seem that people jump past them *I know I
do* without bothering to read them. It would be advised to do so.
I agree that writers should have free reign to creativity. But, with
that freedom comes the responsibility to attempt to write something worth
reading.
Exactly. But then comes the next question.. "Something worth reading" in the
opinion of WHOM? You? Me? Big Bird? RuPaul? John Preston? Hello?
*knockknock* If an author releases it, it is undoubtedly worth reading in
THEIR opinion, and as such, it's the author's opinion that counts most.
... Actually, while I'm at it, I've always been curious as to why lemonfics
almost always have lesbianism included but no homosexuality.. Well, not
really curious because I'm GUESSING *just from the posts* that a good 90% of
the FFML readers {and posters} are male, and for most of you, that works.
I'm generally not so serious about arguing this sort of thing, but it sets
my teeth on edge. It's kind of bass-ackwards to condemn gayfic but produce
lemons in which all the women have sex but the men get nervous just being in
the same room together. (A la "The Seduction of Ataru" and "Marital Arts" --
it's outright stated, methinks.) La, how silly.
At any rate, I really have to wonder how this snowballed into such a ....
